Sirrus Bicycle Recall Overview:

On Mar. 16, Specialized Bicycle Components recalled an additional 19,000 Sirrus bicycles over issues with the alloy crank. In September 2020, 36,000 Sirrus bicycles were recalled over the issue, which can allegedly pose fall and injury hazards.
The crank arm on the recalled Sirrus bicycles can reportedly disengage, causing the rider to lose control of the bicycle and putting them at risk of injury.
The expanded Sirrus bicycle recall includes model year 2021 and 2022 Specialized Sirrus X 3.0 and 4.0 bicycles. The 2020 Specialized bicycle recall included 2019 and 2020 model year Sirrus, Sirrus X and Sirrus Sport bicycles.
The full list of bicycles affected by the Specialized Sirrus bicycle recall includes:
- 2019 Sirrus Sport (including EQ and Step-Through versions)
- 2019 Sirrus X Comp Carbon
- 2020-2022 Sirrus X 3.0
- 2020-2022 Sirrus X 4.0
- 2020 Sirrus 3.0
- 2020 Sirrus 4.0
- 2020 Sirrus 5.0
Consumers who own one of the recalled Sirrus bicycles should stop using the bicycle immediately and contact an authorized Specialist retailer for a free repair.
Sirrus Bicycles Sold Online, At Specialized Retailers
Consumers who own a Sirrus bike can look at the top tube of the bicycle and the seatstay to determine whether their bicycle is included in the Sirrus bicycle recall. “Sirrus” or “Sirrus X” will be printed on the top tube. The model name is on the seatstay. For example, the seatstay will show “3.0,” “4.0” or “5.0” on the newly recalled Sirrus bicycles.
The recalled Sirrus bikes were reportedly sold online and at authorized Specialized retailers nationwide for $850-$1,700 between July 2020 and March 2022.
The Sirrus bicycle recall number is 22-100.
Specialized Bicycle Says It Has Not Received Reports of Injury
Specialized Bicycle Components says it has not received any reports of injuries linked to the recalled Sirrus bicycles. However, the company says it has received 30 reports regarding the crank arm disengaging on the 2021-2022 Sirrus X 3.0 and Sirrus X 4.0 bicycles.
