Aldi recall overview:

  • Who: Bestway Sandwiches is recalling more than 12 tons of frozen chicken and cheese taquito products.
  • Why: The products may be contaminated with metal.
  • Where: The taquito recall is active in Aldi’s across the United States.

Bestway Sandwiches has recalled more than 12 tons of frozen chicken and cheese taquito products sold in Aldi grocery stores nationwide as they may be contaminated with metal.

The taquito recall was published to the U.S. Department of Agriculture Food Safety and Inspection Service on Jan. 11. It applies to almost 25,000 pounds of Casa Mamita Chicken & Cheese Taquitos produced on July 3 and Sept. 25, 2024.

The 20-oz. carton packages of recalled taquitos have best by dates of 07/03/25 and 09/25/25 on the bottom panel and establishment number “EST. P-40327” on the carton package.

One customer injured due to metal in taquito, Aldi recall says

The problem was discovered after Bestway Sandwiches notified the Food Safety and Inspection Service that it received a consumer complaint reporting that they had found a piece of metal in their chicken and cheese taquito. Another consumer told FSIS they had sustained a dental injury from the product.

The company is not currently facing a class action lawsuit due to the taquito recall, but Top Class Actions follows recalls closely as they sometimes result in legal action.

Meanwhile, consumers who have purchased the frozen taquitos are being “urged not to consume them,” the Aldi recall says. “These products should be thrown away or returned to the place of purchase.”

In November, Savencia Cheese USA recalled a variety of soft-ripened cheeses sold across the United States that may be contaminated with listeria monocytogenes.
