Mr. Christmas is recalling more than 44,000 Christmas light controllers sold at Target, as the product can overheat and cause a fire.

The recall was published to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission website on Dec. 12. It applies to about 44,600 wireless decorative tree light controllers sold at Walmart, Target and Cracker Barrel stores nationwide and online.

According to the recall, the wireless receiver that plugs into the outlet can overheat, posing a fire hazard.

So far, the firm has received 10 reports of overheating, including one report of a fire. No injuries have been reported to date, the company said. Mr. Christmas is not currently facing legal action, but Top Class Actions follows recalls closely as they can sometimes result in lawsuits.

‘Immediately stop’ using the Christmas controller, recall says

If consumers believe they may have the recalled light controller, they should immediately stop using the product and return it to the place of purchase to receive a full refund, the recall says.

The controller sold at Walmart and Cracker Barrel is shaped like a green, red and white peppermint candy with a candy cane on/off lever, and displays the words “Christmas Light Controller.”

The controller sold at Target is sold under the Wondershop™ brand and is shaped like a square on/off switch box with green, red and white balls, and displays the words “Tree Lighting Switch”.

The product was sold at the big box stores between July 2024 and November 2024 for between $25 and $40.

Meanwhile, Anker is also recalling some of its speakers sold on Amazon over concerns that the batteries inside the devices can catch fire, with dozens of reports received of the product overheating.
