TFP nutrition issued a wide-ranging recall of all dry dog, dry cat and catfish formulas manufactured in its Nacogdoches, Texas, facility due to the potential for salmonella exposure.

The dog food recall includes a long list of specific dog foods under the brand names Country Acres, Exclusive, H-E-B, Hill Country, Lone Star, Member’s Mark, Retriever and Star Pro, which the company distributed to many states across the United States.

The cat food recall includes specific brands such as Country Acres, Economax, Exclusive, Feline Medley, H-E-B, Multi-Cat, Meow for More, Paws and Claws and Star Pro. The recall also includes Lone Star Floating Catfish Food.

Salmonella symptoms include diarrhea, fever, vomiting in pets, humans

TFP Nutrition did not say if it has not received any reports of illness related to the recall so far. The company is not facing legal action over the recall, but Top Class Actions follows recalls closely as they sometimes lead to class action lawsuits.

Humans who handle food contaminated with salmonella can be infected. Symptoms include nausea, vomiting, diarrhea or bloody diarrhea, abdominal cramping and fever, the recall says.

Pets may be lethargic and have diarrhea or bloody diarrhea, fever and vomiting, if infected.

In other pet food news, Midwestern Pet Foods agreed to pay $6.375 million in a settlement that is now closed to resolve a class action lawsuit claiming it sold pet food with dangerous levels of aflatoxin and salmonella contamination.

I had a German Shepherd to die 3 week ago. She was in great health. To her to the veterinary every year for shots blood work. All of a sudden she got sick and died. There was recall on Long Star dog food and that’s what she had been eating for 3 years. She was only 4 years old. I am literally sick about losing my dog. Her name was Sawyer. I never neglected my dog. I love her very much. My heart is broken. Is there a class action lawsuit against Long Star Dog Food. Is there anything I can do. I need some help. She was a $3,000.00 puppy. Money can not replace her. But I do want and German Shepherd.
