Stanley Black & Decker issued a recall for more than 55,000 DeWALT-brand mowers over concerns the mowers could fail to shut off when the bail handle is released or start without a key, creating a laceration hazard.ย

The DeWALT mowers recall, which also includes approximately 46,200 mowers sold in the United States and about 9,600 sold in Canada, involves certain model year 2024 DeWALT Battery Push walk-behind mowers and DeWALT Battery Self-Propelled walk-behind mowers.ย

DeWALT said the laceration hazard could manifest itself in the event water gets into the recalled mowerโ€™s handle support when its battery is being installed.ย

The company has received ten reports of the recalled mowers failing to shut off when the bail handle was released and one report of a mower starting without a key being inserted, leading to a finger laceration, according to the DeWALT recall.ย

Consumers advised to immediately stop using recalled DeWALT mowers if they have gotten wetย

Consumers are advised to immediately stop using the recalled mowers if they have ever gotten wet, and to contact DeWALT to receive a free repair at an authorized service center.ย

The recalled DeWALT mowers were sold online and in-store at The Home Depot, Tractor Supply, Ace Hardware, as well as various other retail stores nationwide from January 2024 through July 2024 for between $530 and $750.ย

Individuals with more questions about the recall can contact DeWALTby phone at 800-990-6421 or through its online website.ย

Stanley Black & Decker separately recalled about 2.2 million DeWALT, Stanley and Craftsman fiberglass sledgehammers in the U.S. and 53,000 units in Canada in May over concerns their heads could detach unexpectedly during use, posing an impact hazard.ย
