Dynarex Corp. issued a recall for 62 cases of its Dynacare Baby Powder over concerns it is potentially contaminated with asbestos. 

The recall involves certain Dynacare baby powder sent to distributors in Alabama, Arkansas, Colorado, Illinois, Kentucky, North Carolina, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Tennessee, Florida, Washington and Wisconsin on or after March 11, 2024. 

The company also sold the recalled Dynacare baby powder online on Amazon.com. The baby powder is packaged in 14-ounce plastic bottles in a 24-bottle case with batch number B051 and an expiration date of Dec. 28, 2026. 

There have been no illnesses or adverse events in connection with the Dynacare baby powder recall, according to Dynarex. 

FDA testing revealed Dynacare baby powder contained asbestos, recall notice says

Dynarex initiated the Dynacare baby powder recall after routine testing from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration found the recalled products contained asbestos, according to the recall notice. 

The company says it has ceased distribution of the recalled Dynacare baby powder product and is investigating how the asbestos contamination may have occurred. 

Consumers who purchased the recalled product should discontinue use and return it for a full refund.

In other baby powder news, in June, Johnson & Johnson agreed to pay $700 million and stop selling talc products in the United States as part of a nationwide settlement made to end claims the company misled consumers about the products’ safety.
