Eastern Meat Solutions Inc. recalled about 40,763 pounds of raw, boneless pork products as the products were not inspected on import as is required.

The U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) published the recall May 11.

There have been no confirmed reports of adverse reactions due to consumption of the products, the notice states. The company is not facing legal action over the recall, but Top Class Actions follows recalls closely as they sometimes lead to class action lawsuits.

The raw, boneless pork products were imported from Canada, processed by another company into barbecue pork products and shipped nationwide.

Consumers should discard products, pork recall says

The recall affects 16-oz. plastic packages containing Park Street Deli “SWEET CHIPOTLE Boneless Pork Ribs with Sauce” with Lot No. 3115 and use-by date of July 8, 2023, Lot No. 3123 and use-by date of July 17, 2023, or Lot No. 3114 and use-by date of July 8, 2023 on the packages.

It also affects 16-oz. plastic packages containing Park Street Deli “HAWAIIAN STYLE Boneless Pork Ribs with Sauce” with Lot No. 3115 and use-by date of July 8, 2023, Lot No. 3123 and use-by date of July 17, 2023, or Lot No. 3114 and use-by date of July 8, 2023, on the packages.

The recall also applies to 16-ounce plastic packages containing “marketside READY TO HEAT BBQ PORK BURNT ENDS” with Lot No. 3116 and use-by date of 08/29/23; Lot No. 3117 and use-by date of Aug. 30, 2023, and Lot No. 3122 and use-by date of Sept. 4, 2023, on the packages.

FSIS inspection personnel identified the problem, determining the products were not presented for FSIS import re-inspection, the pork recall says.

“Consumers who have purchased these products are urged not to consume them,” the recall says. “These products should be thrown away or returned to the place of purchase.”

In other pork news, earlier this month, a Minnesota federal judge gave final approval to a $75 million settlement, ending allegations against Smithfield Foods brought by indirect consumers claiming the company participated in a scheme to inflate pork prices.
