October auto recalls overview:

  • Who: Honda, Nissan, Porsche and Stellantis issued vehicle recalls in October.
  • Why: The automakers initiated the October auto recalls over mirror glass detachment, leaky fuel pumps, a steering defect, short-circuiting batteries, turn signal malfunction and a rearview camera defect.
  • Where: The recalls affect certain vehicle owners nationwide.

Honda, Nissan, Porsche and Stellantis issued vehicle recalls last month over concerns involving mirror glass, fuel pumps, steering, batteries, turn signals and rearview cameras.

The October auto recalls affect vehicle owners nationwide. An automaker may choose to initiate a recall if it determines a vehicle contains a defect that could endanger drivers, passengers and others on the roadways.

Chrysler recalls 30K+ Ram 1500s over mirror glass detachment

Chrysler issued a recall for more than 30,000 model year 2020-2023 Ram 1500 pickup trucks equipped with heated trailer tow rearview mirrors last month over concerns the mirror glass could detach from the driver’s side.

The recall involves certain Ram 1500 pickup trucks produced by Chrysler between Sept. 24, 2020, and April 11, 2023.

Detachment of the driver’s side glass from the Ram 1500 pickup trucks’ heated trailer tow rearview mirrors could reduce driver visibility, increasing the risk of an accident, according to the recall notice.

Honda vehicles recalled over fuel pump leak concerns

Honda issued a recall for approximately 720,000 vehicles in October over concerns their fuel pumps could leak, posing a fire and crash risk.

The recall involves certain model year 2023-2024 Honda Accord and Accord Hybrid vehicles, 2025 Honda Civic Sedan and Civic Sedan Hybrids and 2023-2025 Honda CR-V Hybrids.

Honda says the recalled vehicles contain a defective high-pressure fuel pump core, causing the fuel pumps to crack.

“During vehicle operation, these cracks can grow, leading to possible fuel leaks, fuel smell while idling or driving, and the risk of fire, crash or injury,” the Honda recall says.

Honda recalls 1.6M+ vehicles over steering defect

Honda issued a separate recall for more than 1.6 million vehicles last month over concerns they could contain a steering defect

The recall involves certain model year 2023-2025 Acura Integra, Honda Civic Type R, Honda CR-V and Honda HR-V vehicles, 2022-2025 Honda Civic gasoline-model vehicles, 2024-2025 Acura Integra vehicles and 2025 Honda CR-V Fuel Cell EV and Honda Civic hybrid vehicles.

The steering defect issue could cause excessive internal fraction, potentially making it difficult for a driver to steer their vehicle, the recall notice states.

“Increased friction between the worm gear and worm wheel can increase steering effort and difficulty, increasing the risk of a crash or injury,” the Honda recall says.

Nissan recalls 37K+ Rogue vehicles due to rearview camera defect

Nissan issued a recall for more than 37,000 model year 2024-2025 Rogue vehicles and model year 2025 QX80 SUVs last month over concerns their rearview cameras could fail to display an image while the vehicle is in reverse.

The automaker attributed the issue to a software error and says the problem could place drivers at risk of an accident, according to the recall notice.

“The loss of the rearview camera image while in reverse can reduce the driver’s rear visibility, increasing the risk of a crash,” the Nissan recall says.

Nissan says it plans to fix the issue with an over-the-air software update of the recalled Rogue and QX80 vehicles’ in-vehicle infotainment system.

27K+ Porsche Taycan vehicles recalled over battery concerns

Porsche issued a recall for more than 27,000 model year 2021-2024 Porsche Taycan hybrid electric vehicles in October over concerns their battery could short circuit, posing a fire risk.

The automaker says the high-voltage batteries in the recalled Porsche Taycan vehicles could, without warning, short circuit within their battery modules, potentially leading to a fire.

Porsche dealers will install advanced diagnostic software into the recalled Taycan vehicles to remedy the issue, the recall notice states. The fix should be available in the first quarter of 2025.

Ram 1500 pickup recalled over turn signal self-canceling feature

Stellantis issued a recall for neary 130,000 model year 2023-2024 Ram pickup trucks last month over concerns their turn signal self-canceling feature could malfunction

The automaker says the issue could keep the turn signal self-canceling feature on the recalled Ram 1500 pickup trucks from working properly, increasing the risk of an accident.

“A turn signal which does not self-cancel and remains active after a completed turn may cause surrounding drivers to misunderstand the intent to change vehicle direction, which can cause a vehicle crash without prior warning,” the Ram 1500 recall says.
