BrucePac issued a recall for approximately 11,765,285 pounds of ready-to-eat meat and poultry products over concerns they may have been contaminated with listeria monocytogenes.

The recall involves BrucePac ready-to-eat meat and poultry products produced from May 31, 2024, to Oct. 8, 2024, and shipped to distributors and establishments that distributed them to restaurants, schools and institutions nationwide.

Popular grocery stores, such as Walmart, Publix, Target, Aldi, Amazon, Trader Joe’s and others, sold the recalled meat products, USA Today reports

A routine inspection by the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service discovered the listeria contamination, the recall notice states. BrucePac confirmed the product tested positive for listeria monocytogenes.

“FSIS is concerned that some product may be available for use in restaurants, institutions, schools and other establishments. These other establishments may have used affected meat and poultry in RTE products that may be on store shelves or in consumers’ refrigerators or freezers,” the recall says.

BrucePac ready-to-eat chicken source of listeria contamination, FSIS says

BrucePac’s ready-to-eat chicken is the source of the listeria contamination, according to the recall.

The FSIS says there have been no confirmed reports of adverse reactions due to consuming the recalled BrucePac meat products.

Consumers with more questions about the recall can contact BrucePac by email or its recall coordinator by telephone at 503-874-3000.

The recall comes a few months after Boar’s Head expanded and updated a deli meat recall related to a deadly listeria outbreak and linked to illnesses and deaths throughout the United States.
