Martinelli & Co. issued a recall for a single lot of its Martinelli’s One Liter Apple Juice over concerns the product was contaminated with arsenic.
The recall involves nearly 25,000 cases of Martinelli’s One Liter Apple Juice with best-by dates of March 9, 2026, or March 10, 2026, shipped between March 13, 2023, and Sept. 27, 2023, Food Safety News reports.
Martinelli says it initiated the recall after a sampling by the state of Maryland found the apple juice lot tested above the guidance action level for inorganic arsenic in apple juice set by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA).
“FDA has stated that exposure to elevated levels of inorganic arsenic can pose a health hazard to young children,” Martinelli says in a notice of voluntary recall.
