Doritos allergy recall overview:

  • Who: Frito-Lay issued a recall of up to 7,000 bags of Nacho Cheese Flavored Tortilla Chips.
  • Why: The chips may contain undeclared soy and wheat ingredients from spicy sweet chili tortilla chips.
  • Where: Frito-Lay distributed the affected Doritos in retail stores in Pennsylvania.
  • What are my options: Try snacks from Thrive Market as an alternative to Doritos.

Frito-Lay issued a recall of up to 7,000 bags of Doritos Nacho Cheese Flavored Tortilla Chips, as they may contain undeclared soy and wheat ingredients.

The U.S. Food & Drug Administration (FDA) website published the recall Aug. 1. It applies to Doritos Nacho Cheese Flavored Tortilla Chips and Doritos Nacho Cheese Flavored Tortilla Chips Party Size with certain UPC codes, manufacturing codes and code dates that can be seen here

Frito-Lay distributed the products covered by the recall at retail stores in Pennsylvania and other outlets, such as foodservice locations and vending machines. Consumers would have been able to purchase the chips as early as June 29, 2023, the recall states.

Doritos chips may contain wheat ingredients, recall states

According to the recall, the undeclared soy in the chips may have come from wheat ingredients from spicy sweet chili tortilla chips.

“Those with an allergy or severe sensitivity to soy or wheat run the risk of illness should they consume these products,” the Doritos recall states.

No allergic reactions related to the undeclared soy have been reported, according to the recall.

“If consumers have an allergy or severe sensitivity to soy or wheat, they should not consume the product and discard it immediately,” the Doritos recall states.

In June, Frito-Lay recalled another product — select 15-ounce jars of its Tostitos Avocado Salsa Dip that have been on sale since April 5 in the United States — due to undeclared milk.
