Bob Evans Farms Foods has recalled about 7,560 pounds of Italian pork sausage products as they may be contaminated with thin blue rubber.

The Bob Evans sausage recall was announced Oct. 21 on the U.S. Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) and relates to raw, Italian pork sausage items produced on Sept. 8, 2022.ย

The recalled sausage are 1-lb. chubs containing the label โ€œBob Evans Italian Sausageโ€ with lot code XEN3663466, a use by date of 11/26/22 and timestamp of between 14:43 and 15:25.

Consumers complain about blue rubber in sausages

The problem was discovered after the firm notified FSIS it had received consumer complaints reporting thin blue pieces of rubber in the product.

There have been no confirmed reports of adverse reactions due to consumption of these products so far, the company said. Anyone concerned about an injury or illness should contact a healthcare provider.ย ย

The company is not currently facing legal action over the recall, but Top Class Actions follows recalls closely as they sometimes end in class action lawsuits.

The Ohio company said the Italian pork sausage products were shipped to retail locations nationwide.ย ย ย

FSIS is also concerned that some products may be in consumersโ€™ refrigerators or freezers.ย

โ€œConsumers who have purchased these products are urged not to consume them,โ€ the recall states. โ€œThese products should be thrown away or returned to the place of purchase.โ€

Meanwhile, Bob Evans has been hit with a class action lawsuit alleging its mashed potatoes donโ€™t actually contain real butter as is advertised on the label.ย
