Biomic Sciences recall overview:ย

  • Who: Biomic Sciences recalled three varieties of its nasal sprays, including ION Science Support, ION Biome Science and Restore Sinus Spray.
  • Why: The sinus sprays may be contaminated with bacteria, including microbacterium sp., fictibacillus sp., bacillus sp. and paenibacillus sp.
  • Where: The nasal spray recall is effective across the United States.

Biomic Sciences initiated a recall for three of its nasal spray products after the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) discovered microbial contamination during testing.

The Biomic Sciences recall includes ION Science Support, sold from September 2021 to Sept. 20, 2023, along with ION Biome Science, sold from September 2019 to September 2021, and Restore Sinus Spray, sold from June 2017 to September 2019.

The FDA identified the microbial contamination as microbacterium sp., fictibacillus sp., bacillus sp. and paenibacillus sp.

For patients with recent nasal or sinus surgery, there is a reasonable probability the use of the sprays could result in severe or life-threatening bacteremia or fungemia, invasive bacterial or fungal rhinosinusitis or disseminated fungal infection, according to the nasal spray recall.

Consumers should discard nasal sprays, recall says

Biomic Sciences says it has not received reports of illness related to the recall. The company is not facing legal action over the recall, but Top Class Actions follows recalls closely as they sometimes lead to class action lawsuits.

Consumers who have the recalled nasal sprays should stop using them and take a photo of the lot number on the bottom of the bottle before discarding them, then send that photo to Biomic Sciences for a refund.

Individuals can reach the Biomic Sciences Io sinus recall Team at 844-715-0113 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. ET, Monday to Friday, or via email at [email protected].

In other nasal spray news, nasal spray brand NDAL MFG Inc. initiated a nationwide voluntary recall of ManukaGuard Allercleanse Nasal Spray after it discovered yeast contamination in early 2021.

As a Licensed Aesthetician, I also received training in other areas of the spa industry. Laser, the study of electrology, and massage therapy. Spas need to stay within the framework of the spa industry and not get into weight loss or teeth whitening. Every occupation has boundaries, and professionals need to stick to the boundaries of the area of study and not get into other gimmicks that can cause and lead to legal issues and possible jail time.
