  • What are my options: Try breakfast sandwiches from Thrive Market as an alternative to belVita.

Mondelฤ“z has recalled two varieties of belVita breakfast sandwich products as the products may contain undeclared peanuts.ย

The recall was published to the U.S. Food & Drug Administration (FDA) website on July 3. It applies to belVita Breakfast Sandwich Dark Chocolate Creme variety and belVita Breakfast Sandwich Cinnamon Brown Sugar with Vanilla Creme variety sold in various packaging.ย

The exact product descriptions for the affected products can be seen here.ย

According to the recall, there is the possibility the products may contain undeclared peanut resulting from cross-contact. The company became aware of the issue during an internal manufacturing inspection, when it found the potential presence of peanut protein residue on the line used to make the products, it said.ย

โ€œPeople who have an allergy or severe sensitivity to peanuts may risk serious or life-threatening allergic reactions by consuming these products,โ€ the recall states.ย

There have been three unconfirmed reports of possible allergic reactions to date related to the products, the company said.ย

The company is not currently facing legal action over the recall, but Top Class Actions follows recalls closely as they sometimes end in class action lawsuits.

Products were distributed nationwide

The products were manufactured in the United States and sold nationwide. No other belVita products, Mondelฤ“z Global LLC products, or markets outside the United States are affected by this recall, the company said.ย

Consumers who have a peanut allergy should not eat the products and should discard any recalled products they may have.ย

Meanwhile, Mondelฤ“z will pay $8 million as part of a belVita class action settlement resolving claims the productโ€™s marketing deceives consumers.
