new port sales all-gloo craft glueAll-Gloo Craft Glue products were recently recalled due to concerns that the packaging is not child resistant, posing a poisoning risk.

The Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) announced the recall of All-Gloo Craft Glue on Oct. 31.

According to the CPSC, these glue products contain methanol which can pose a poisoning hazard to young children if they were to get ahold of the glue and ingest it.

The products are reportedly not up to par with child resistant packaging as is required by the Poisoning Prevention Packaging Act.

The Poison Prevention Packaging Act was enacted by the government in 1970. This act aims to reduce the instances of child poisoning by requiring child resistant packaging for hazardous products. The packaging must reportedly be “designed or constructed to be significantly difficult for children under five years of age to open within a reasonable time, and not difficult for normal adults to use properly.”

As a result of the Poison Prevention Packaging Act, there has reportedly been “remarkable declines” in poisonings caused by the ingestion of household products.

Around 46,000 units are affected by the recent All-Glue Craft Clue recall. Various sizes of All-Glue Craft Clue are included in the recall, such as 2 ounces (UPC: 700332578122), 4 ounces (700332570126), and 8 ounces (700332570133). The glue products are reportedly housed in translucent white plastic bottles with an orange, white, and black label. The corresponding UPC can reportedly be found on this label and used to identify recalled products.

These products were reportedly sold for between $2 and $7 at La Casa de los Botones and New Port Sales Inc. in Puerto Rico. The products were available between April 2019 and June 2019.

There have reportedly been no incidences or injuries associated with the now-recalled glue products, but the CPSC and New Port Sales state that consumers should make sure the glue is out of reach of children. The products can reportedly be returned to the store they were purchased at where consumers can receive a full refund.

The CPSC is a government agency which aims to protect consumers from hazardous products which could cause injury or death. In addition to being tragic to families, these deaths and injuries reportedly cost the nation more than $1 trillion every year. The CPSC protects consumers from these risks by recalling dangerous items if a fire, electrical, chemical, or mechanical hazard is present.
