Ford has issued a safety recall of 192,000 of its Transit Connect vans over concerns that a transmission component can detach, increasing the risk of an accident.

All 2013 through 2021 Ford Transit Connect vehicles with 2.5-liter engine and 6F35 transmissions are subject to the recall. Ford warns that the part attaching the shifter cable to the transmission may degrade or detach over time. If this part is damaged or missing, the shifter can be prevented from getting the transmission into the right gear.

The problem that prompted the Transit Connect van recall can increase the risk of a crash, says Ford, though no incidents have been reported so far.

Ford says that Transit Connect van owners can take their vehicles to an authorized dealer for a free inspection and repair. The automaker plans to start notifying van owners on June 28.

Ford Transit Connect owners can contact the company at 866-436-7332 with questions.

Vehicle owners can visit the National Highway Safety Traffic Administration’s website and enter their 17-digit vehicle identification number to see if their vehicle is under recall. If it is, vehicle owners should call their nearest dealership immediately to schedule a free repair.

Though this is not a class action lawsuit, Top Class Actions will continue to monitor the issue to keep readers informed about potentially dangerous vehicle recalls.

Indeed, this is far from the first recall Ford has issued this year. Earlier this month, the automaker recalled more than 600,000 late model SUVs over concerns the roof rails could detach while in motion.

Our company vehicle had a mechanical breakdown while going down a major highway. When put in reverse, vehicle stayed in drive. This is a company fleet vehicle, as I’m sure most of yours are as well, and its currently in a shop five hours from our business location. Dealership did not provide a rental. This downtime is costing significant amounts of losses on our business end.
