Waste Management of New York Class Action Settlement

Current and former New York residents may be eligible for a class action rebate in a $2.7 million settlement with a residential disposal services company.

A New York woman accused Waste Management of New York of forcing her and other to pay exorbitant fees for receiving paper copies of their billing statements. Her class action lawsuit accused the company of violating New York state law prohibiting fees for paper bills, as well as for paying bills through the mail.

Waste Management of New York denied any wrongdoing, but agreed to change its practices and pay a settlement award to both current and former customers who had been assessed a paper billing statement fee. Those who paid an “Administrative Fee” for Waste Management disposal services between Sept. 27, 2016 and Aug. 27, 2020 for a New York residence are Class Members.

Those who have current or recently closed accounts with Waste Management will be automatically entered into the settlement. Class Members who closed their Waste Management account prior to Aug. 27 will need to submit a claim form to receive a class action rebate. The claim form is due Feb. 20, 2021.

Navy Federal NSF Fees Class Action Settlement

Those who bank with Navy Federal Credit Union may be able to get their NSF fees back under the terms of a $16 million class action settlement.

A customer accused Navy Federal of charging unfair non-sufficient fund fees. According to the complaint, the credit union charged multiple NSF fees on single transactions – charging the fee at the initial transaction and then attempting to re-process the transaction, racking up additional NSF fees.

Navy Federal admitted no wrongdoing, but agreed to reimburse customers who were charged multiple NSF fees on one transaction between Jan. 28, 2014 and Oct. 27, 2020.

No claim form is required to receive a class action rebate. The final approval hearing is scheduled for March 26, 2021.

Slotomania, House of Fun Casino Gaming Apps Class Action Settlement

Individuals who played certain casino gaming apps while in Washington may be able to get some of the money that they spent on in-app purchases back.

The makers of Slotomania, House of Fun, Caesars Casino/Caesars Slots, and Vegas Downtown Slots were accused of violating the state’s gaming laws. According to a class action lawsuit, Playtika Lt. and Caesars Interactive Entertainment preyed upon gambling addicts by offering gaming apps that start off free, but then require users’ purchase coins or tokens.

The app makers denied any wrongdoing, but agreed to pay $38 million to end the litigation.

Class Members are eligible to receive a partial reimbursement for money they spent on in-app purchases. An estimator tool is available on the settlement website for each award.

Claim forms are due Jan. 4, 2021.

Costco Executive Membership Class Action Settlement

Those who cancelled an executive membership with Costco may be entitled to a $15 class action rebate.

A class action lawsuit accused the company of failing to reimburse customers who paid to upgrade their membership to the “executive” level, but then cancelled it. Customers said that they were told the upgrade was “risk free” and they would be reimbursed, but that Costco failed to provide full reimbursements as promised.

Costco admitted no wrongdoing, but agreed to pay $525,000 to settle the allegations. Consumers who bought an executive membership to the wholesale store and then cancelled it, but were not fully reimbursed may be able to take part. Class Members can claim either a $15 cash award or a free year of membership.

The deadline to submit a claim is Nov. 24, 2020.

C.R. England Text Messages Class Action Settlement

Those who received recruiting text messages from C.R. England may be able to take part in a $315,000 class action settlement.

The trucking company was accused of sending unsolicited text messages to consumers trying to recruit them into their driving school in Indiana. The plaintiff claimed that he and others continued to receive messages despite trying to opt-out.

C.R. admits no wrongdoing, but has agreed to settle allegations it violated the Telephone Consumer Protection Act. Class Members can claim part of the $315,000 settlement amount — the exact award will depend on the number of claims.

Claim forms must be submitted by Dec. 7, 2020.

Huuuge Casino, Billionaire Casino, Stars Slots Class Action Settlement

If you played Huuuge Casino, Billionaire Casino, Stars Slots or other social casino games, you might be entitled to a reimbursement for money you spent on in-app purchases under the terms of a class action settlement.

Huuuge Inc. allegedly violated Washington state gaming laws with offers of free chips to play various video poker games. Players were then enticed into making in-app purchases that targeted those vulnerable to gambling addictions, according to a class action lawsuit.

The app developer denied any wrongdoing, but agreed a $6.5 million class action settlement.

Under the agreement, Class Members will be reimbursed for a portion of their in-app purchases of chips. Class Members can get an estimate of their award using a tool available on the settlement website.

Class Members only have until Nov. 30, 2020, to take part, so be sure to check it out!

Grange Insurance Total Loss Class Action Settlement

Ohio residents may be able to claim between $9.50 and $21 as part of a class action rebate ending allegations Grange Insurance Co. shorted total loss payments.

A class action lawsuit alleged Grange failed to include sales tax and other fees when it paid out total loss claims.

Individuals who submitted total loss claims to Grange between May 27, 2004, and July 22, 2020, for individuals insured by Grange Indemnity Insurance Co., or between June 9, 2005, and July 22, 2020, for individuals insured by Grange Insurance Co. (formerly Grange Mutual Casualty Co.), Grange Property and Casualty or Trustgard Insurance Co. may be able to take part.

Class Members have until Dec. 31, 2020, to file a claim.

Carolina Beach Facility Beach Class Action Settlement

Developers may be able to claim part of a $850,000 settlement over allegations that Carolina Beach, North Carolina, improperly collected “facility fees.”

A class action lawsuit alleged the local government wrongly collected fees from developers, purportedly for water and sewer services. However, a court order had allegedly invalidated these fees, according to the plaintiffs.

Carolina Beach refused to admit any liability, but agreed to partially reimburse developers for the fees they had paid. Under the terms of the settlement, developers can claim up to an 81% reimbursement for the facility fees they paid.

Claim forms must be submitted by Dec. 26, 2020.

LG Refrigerator Cooling Defect Class Action Settlement

LG refrigerator owners may be able to claim class action rebates worth up to $450 in a settlement over allegations certain appliances were defective.

According to a class action lawsuit, the cooling mechanisms in certain LG refrigerators is defective and can cost consumers thousands to repair. LG admitted no wrongdoing, but agreed to pay $1.5 million to end the legal action.

Under the terms of the settlement, Class Members can claim up to a $450 cash award, as well as up to $6,000 in reimbursement for out-of-pocket repair attempts.

Class Members must submit their claim by Jan. 11, 2021.

Wells Fargo DACA Class Action Settlement

Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) recipients who were denied a loan by Wells Fargo may be able to claim as much as $2,500 in a class action settlement.

Wells Fargo was accused of denying loan applications from individuals with DACA status. DACA recipients said the bank refused applications for student, car and home loans simply because of their immigration status.

Wells Fargo denies liability, but agreed to pay $20 million to end the class action lawsuit. Under the terms o the agreement, Class Members can claim as much as $2,500 for each loan denial they received from Wells Fargo.

The deadline to submit a claim is Nov. 24, 2020.

A $3 class action rebate may be available to iPhone 4 and 4s owners under a class action settlement with Apple.

Apple was accused of forcing iPhone owners into upgrading their operating systems by deliberately breaking its FaceTime feature. Plaintiffs alleged Apple made the move in order to save on data costs and to force consumers to buy newer iPhones.

Apple says it did nothing wrong, but agreed to pay $18 million to end the litigation. Class Members do not need to submit a claim form, but those who do not receive notice of the settlement will need to submit an Application for Inclusion to take part.

Applications for Inclusion are due by Dec. 9, 2020.

Los Angeles’ Gas Utility User Tax Class Action Settlement

Southern California Gas Co. customers may see a reduced tax rate for natural gas under a settlement agreement with the city of Los Angeles.

Taxpayers accused the city of improperly calculating their gas taxes, inflating the rate that they paid. Los Angeles admitted no wrongdoing, but agreed to pay $32.5 million to end the class action lawsuit and reduce natural gas customers’ tax rates for a time.

Class Members will be automatically entered into the settlement, but those who wish to object or exclude themselves must do so by Dec. 29, 2020.

Roundup® Weed & Grass Killer Product Label Class Action Settlement

Consumers can claim a class action rebate worth as much as $53.15 for each unit of certain Roundup® products they purchased.

A class action lawsuit accused the maker of the weedkiller, Monsanto, and parent company Bayer of falsely advertising Roundup® Weed & Grass Killer products. The companies admit no wrongdoing, but agreed to pay nearly $40 million to end the litigation.

The settlement agreement covers the following products:

  • Roundup® Ready-to-Use Weed & Grass Killer III
  • Roundup® Ready-to-Use Weed & Grass Killer Plus
  • Roundup® Weed & Grass Killer Concentrate Plus
  • Roundup® Weed & Grass Killer Super Concentrate

Eligible consumers have until Feb. 16, 2021, to submit a claim.

Big Fish Casino, Jackpot Magic Slots, Epic Diamond Slots Class Action Settlement

Consumers who played online video lottery games may be able to be reimbursed for in-app purchases if they take part in a $150 million class action settlement.

Big Fish Casino ended two class action lawsuits alleging the company violated Washington state gambling laws. Plaintiffs claimed the company used in-app purchases to get players to purchase more chips and wager more money.

Big Fish admitted no wrongdoing, but has agreed to reimburse players for in-app purchases. Awards are estimated to be between $7.50 and $100,000 depending on how much the individual Class Members spent on in-app purchases.

The deadline to submit a claim is Jan. 4, 2021.

Great Value, Market Pantry Coffee Class Action Settlement

Coffee drinkers may be able to receive as much as $30 from a class action settlement with the makers of Great Value, Market Pantry and other brands of ground coffee.

The class action lawsuit claimed certain products were mislabeled regarding the number of cups of coffee they could brew. Coffee makers agreed to pay up to $20 million to end the allegations.

Consumers who purchased Great Value, Bonus Blend, Flavor Peak, Food Lion, Hannaford, Market Pantry and Signature Select ground coffee between Jan. 1, 2016, and July 29, 2020, may be able to take part in the settlement.

Claim forms are due Nov. 18, 2020.

    I put in for the Round UP classaction lawsuit a while ago. Hopefully, I will receive something for my troubles. I put in the proper paperwork.
