Intervet Inc. agreed to a settlement to resolve a class action lawsuit claiming it tricked consumers into paying for a HomeAgain premium service membership.

The HomeAgain settlement benefits consumers in Alabama, Alaska, Arizona, Arkansas, California, Colorado, Connecticut, Delaware, District of Columbia, Florida, Georgia, Hawaii, Idaho, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, Vermont, Virginia, Washington, West Virginia, Wisconsin and Wyoming who paid for a HomeAgain premium service membership during various periods between May 19, 2016, and Sept. 12, 2024.

The HomeAgain class action lawsuit claimed Intervet made misrepresentations and omissions regarding the necessity for microchipped pet owners to pay for a HomeAgain membership to remain in and update their contact information in the HomeAgain pet recovery database. Consumers argue they would not have paid for a membership if they knew it was unnecessary.

Intervet is a subsidiary of Merck Animal Health, a global health care company that offers a variety of products and services, including pet recovery services through HomeAgain.

Intervet didn’t admit any wrongdoing but agreed to pay an undisclosed sum to resolve the HomeAgain class action lawsuit.

Under the terms of the settlement, class members can receive a cash payment of $20, although the payment amounts could increase or decrease depending on the number of claims submitted.

Additionally, Intervet agreed to revise all materials that describe the HomeAgain membership to inform customers it is not necessary to pay for HomeAgain’s premium membership to remain in the HomeAgain pet recovery database. This includes informing customers their pet recovery information remains in the database forever and they can update it for free.

The deadline for objection and exclusion is Dec. 26, 2024.

The final hearing date is scheduled for Feb. 10, 2025.

The claim form deadline is Jan. 27, 2025.

  1. Melissa Stone says:

When I filed for this I had two dogs and they told me I can only claim the one dog. But
under the date for the state of Indiana it’s May of 2020 through September of 21 and in that time frame I had two dogs Abbey & Baycon. Was that true?

  2. Mike Fellenstein says:

I received $11.56 today. Better than nothing but less than I expected.

    1. BONNIE M WRIGHT says:

Did you get it through email? I got an email notification for virtual card. Wondering if this is legitimate

      1. Melissa Kite says:

I had recieved something in the mail about a lawsuit a year or two ago. I didnt think it was real then and threw it out. I wish that I had looked into it more since I had been paying that membership for almost 10 years by that point.
