A growing number of men are reporting negative reactions to the popular deodorant brand, Old Spice.
One of the men who reported an Old Spice deodorant burn is Joshua P., a student athlete at Reeths Puffer High School in Muskegon, Michigan. Joshua reports that after using Old Spice deodorant, he developed a rash, blisters, and bleeding scabs underneath both of his arms.
It took a while for Joshua and his family to connect the burns with his Old Spice deodorant. They assumed it was connected to something more out of the ordinary than the popular Old Spice product — Joshua’s recent trip to a friend’s cabin, for instance, or some problem with his sports uniform.
However, when the rash symptoms did not go away, his family grew more worried.
“It continued to get worse and scab up,” Joshua said.
His mother, Maren P., said that “it burned so bad he couldn’t raise his hands to play basketball and it was during basketball season that it happened.”
Though Joshua and his family were at a loss for what could have caused the relentless symptoms, his mother eventually saw a clue on social media that led her to suspect the rash to be a symptom of Old Spice deodorant burns.
“One day I was on Facebook and I saw a picture of an arm pit,” Maren said. “It was blistered and reminded me of what Josh had. I read the article and came to find out that’s what Josh uses. We had Old Spice in our cabinet.”
Josh confirmed using Old Spice deodorant where the rashes later showed up.
According to an Old Spice spokesman, the company goes to “great lengths to ensure our products are safe to use. Tens of millions of men use this product with confidence and without incident.”
Despite the company’s belief in its product, hundreds if not thousands of Old Spice users would like to argue otherwise. Hundreds of pictures of what are allegedly Old Spice deodorant burns have been posted on social media, and videos depicting these symptoms have also been uploaded to YouTube.
A Old Spice chemical burn class action lawsuit has been filed, and class members include those who have used an Old Spice product that has resulted in chemical burn side effects.
The Old Spice lawsuit is asking for over $5 million in damages for the consumers who have allegedly been harmed by Old Spice deodorant products.
In the meantime, Josh has given up with Old Spice deodorant — in fact, he has sworn off of stick deodorant altogether.
Filing an Old Spice chemical burn class action lawsuit may be able to help compensate for any medical expenses incurred as a result of the product’s side effects. If you or someone you know has suffered from what you believe to be Old Spice deodorant burns or a similar side effect, you may be able to file an Old Spice chemical burn lawsuit against Procter & Gamble, the product’s manufacturers.
