The recall involves Horizon Organic Aseptic Plain Whole Milk sold in 8 oz containers as either a single unit or within packs of 12 with a Universal Product Code of 3663207113 for the milk sold as part of a 12-pack and 3663207127 for the single units.
The recalled Horizon milk contained best before dates between March 3, and March 7, 2025, and was distributed in Arizona, California and Nevada, according to a recall published by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration.
Horizon milk recall designated as a Class II recall by FDA
The Horizon milk recall was initiated by Horizon on Dec. 13, 2024, and classified as a Class II recall by the FDA earlier this month.
A Class II designation means the recalled milk may cause temporary or reversible health issues, with a small chance of causing a serious health problem.
In another recent milk-related recall, HP Hood LLC issued a recall for certain Lactaid-brand milk in September 2024 over concerns the product contained trace amounts of undeclared almonds, posing an allergy risk.
The recalled Lactaid milk — which included Lactaid 96 oz milk carton varieties — was shipped to retailers and wholesalers in 27 states across the U.S. between Sept. 5 and 18, 2024.
