ford steering wheelA class action lawsuit claims that Ford F-150 trucks, model years 2015 to 2019, have defective steering systems which causes the wheel to pull to the left or the right, leaving the driver to temporarily lose control.

The Ford F-150 class action lawsuit was filed by Mark Lincoln who says that he noticed the steering problem upon purchasing a 2016 vehicle, and was told that he could bring it back for an alignment which would fix the problem.

Allegedly, Lincoln bought his vehicle back for an alignment on July 9, 2018, but that did not fix the problem. Additionally, he says that he had his tires rebalanced, but that did not solve the problem.

The Ford steering alignment class action goes on to state that after he experienced multiple problems with his 2016 Ford F-150, including “erratic steering and pulling,” Lincoln traded his 2016 vehicle in and purchased a 2017 Ford F-150 vehicle.

He says that he had to pay a $5,000 adjustment for the 2017  vehicle, which had around 27,188 miles on the odometer on the date of purchase.

The Ford F-150 class action lawsuit claims that when Lincoln purchased the 2017 vehicle, he reviewed the sticker that was placed on the window of the vehicle advertising the vehicle’s features, including equipment, warranty, and crash test ratings.

Allegedly, Lincoln relied on the advertisements on the sticker to make his purchasing decision, noting that the sticker did not disclose that the vehicle suffered from any defects.

According to Lincoln, when he drove the vehicle home, he noticed that it pulled and drifted in both directions. He says that Ford would do a re-alignment free of charge, but that the alignment did not correct the erratic steering.

In the fall, Lincoln complained again about the erratic steering, at which point Ford adjusted the alignment and steering gear assembly, and replaced the shaft seal. However, the problem allegedly persisted.

Lincoln claims that he brought both trucks in for service on multiple occasions but Ford failed to fix the problem. He says that he has faced financial injury trying to fix the problem, including incurring costs related to purchasing his new vehicle, and including lost wages because he had to miss work to try to deal with the vehicle problems.

He says that he and many other customers experienced the steering defect, and were financially injured because of it. Lincoln seeks damages on behalf of himself and all other similarly affected customers.

    Since day 21 our 2019 Ford F-150
Wheel sticks when trying to turn or even follow the curve of the road.
Sometimes have a hard time turning quick enough to avoid a car, as it stalls,

16 with 59k, supercrew 3.5 . On family roadtrip, steering felt as described above for about 350 interstate miles. Pulled into a bass pro shop to call a dealer in our upcoming stop. Hard to describe steering feel, jerky at times perhaps sensitive? Told my wife it felt like driving on uneven pavement. I crawled under truck had wife turn wheel from lock to lock, no noise noticed then pop and no more power steering.

My 2018 F-150 pulls to the left and the steering wheel points to the left (slightly). I’ve had it in several times and they “can’t” fix it, although the technicians acknowledge the problem is there. It seems to be related to the steering stabilization. The dealership tried to help, but Ford totally blew me off, basically denying the problem exists at all. Very disappointing.

How do I get added to the class action suit? Dropped off my 2017 f150 this past Monday they did an alignment that didn’t fix it they put a call into ford. So today ( Thursday ) I got a call from the service agent stating there’s nothing wrong with the truck and from asking around “ that’s how it drives” I said I’m not taking that answer that there’s a bigger issue – can you believe that B.S

2017 f150 4×4 with 50000 KM. The steering just locked up on me as I was backing up my trailer and it doesn’t appear that my power steering will be coming back anytime soon. Glad it happened while I was going so slow. I sure hope it’s covered under warranty.

As with others they started with an alignment but didn’t fix the issue . Have they actually figured out what the issue is ? Thanks

I just bought a 2020 limited and doing the same thing. This is Dangerous

  7. Syrina Fields says:

My husband has a F 150 2016 with the same issue, lights, turn signal, and important controls go out. It was purchased brand new, and has less than 50,000 miles. Our local ford dealership wants us to pay for the whole steering system repair. I feel something like that shouldn’t just go out like that.

  8. Michael Holt says:

My 2011 F150 with electric assisted power steering failed. Dealership wants $2155.00 for parts and labor!

  9. John Kocis says:

I have my 2017 Ford Raptor at the dealer right now for the steering locking. It first happened to my young daughter and she could not overcome the locked steering wheel and drove off the highway because of it. This is a severe safety issue and needs to be addressed by Ford immediately. How is this much data out there around a problem like this and Ford is not reacting? Does someone have to die, or many someones before they will stand up and fix this? Please let me know if there is a similar class-action effort in Michigan where I live.

    John

  10. John Kocis says:

I have a 2017 Ford Raptor and the steering randomly will start sticking to one direction or another, it has to be forced back to go straight, then it locked in the straight position. You can overcome the locked position with heavy force in the opposite direction.

Please let me know if anything comes of this effort to get Ford to fix this issue.
