ford steering wheelA class action lawsuit claims that Ford F-150 trucks, model years 2015 to 2019, have defective steering systems which causes the wheel to pull to the left or the right, leaving the driver to temporarily lose control.

The Ford F-150 class action lawsuit was filed by Mark Lincoln who says that he noticed the steering problem upon purchasing a 2016 vehicle, and was told that he could bring it back for an alignment which would fix the problem.

Allegedly, Lincoln bought his vehicle back for an alignment on July 9, 2018, but that did not fix the problem. Additionally, he says that he had his tires rebalanced, but that did not solve the problem.

The Ford steering alignment class action goes on to state that after he experienced multiple problems with his 2016 Ford F-150, including “erratic steering and pulling,” Lincoln traded his 2016 vehicle in and purchased a 2017 Ford F-150 vehicle.

He says that he had to pay a $5,000 adjustment for the 2017  vehicle, which had around 27,188 miles on the odometer on the date of purchase.

The Ford F-150 class action lawsuit claims that when Lincoln purchased the 2017 vehicle, he reviewed the sticker that was placed on the window of the vehicle advertising the vehicle’s features, including equipment, warranty, and crash test ratings.

Allegedly, Lincoln relied on the advertisements on the sticker to make his purchasing decision, noting that the sticker did not disclose that the vehicle suffered from any defects.

According to Lincoln, when he drove the vehicle home, he noticed that it pulled and drifted in both directions. He says that Ford would do a re-alignment free of charge, but that the alignment did not correct the erratic steering.

In the fall, Lincoln complained again about the erratic steering, at which point Ford adjusted the alignment and steering gear assembly, and replaced the shaft seal. However, the problem allegedly persisted.

Lincoln claims that he brought both trucks in for service on multiple occasions but Ford failed to fix the problem. He says that he has faced financial injury trying to fix the problem, including incurring costs related to purchasing his new vehicle, and including lost wages because he had to miss work to try to deal with the vehicle problems.

He says that he and many other customers experienced the steering defect, and were financially injured because of it. Lincoln seeks damages on behalf of himself and all other similarly affected customers.

I purchased new 2019 F150 XLT. I am in my 70’s and have driven many vehicles over my lifetime, and find this one horrible to attempt to control. I am constantly having to make minor steering wheel corrections to keep it going straight down the road, especially at higher speeds. When cornering on a at above 50MPH on a slight curve in the road, rather than turning smoothly as should be expected it makes an overcorrection which is not expected, and I have to counter steer in the opposite direction. I know vehicles today are “steer by wire” but what I am experiencing is not right in my opinion. I tend to lease for two years and have six months remaining on this one and it currently has less than 11K miles on it and I drive quite conservatively and know the vehicle has never hit anything which would cause it to go out of alignment. I have no one in household that drives this vehicle. Not related to steering, the vehicle had a problem with all of the dashboard lights going out with the exception of the radio. When I came out from work the battery was dead and it had been reported by friends they noted the headlights had been on. Dealer claimed they were unable to replicate and sent me on my way.

I’m in Texas, please let me know if there is a class action lawsuit in my state. This just happened to me. My pre certified warranty does not cover this. It’s $3000 to fix. Plus I had to have it towed from one dealer to another because the first dealer had no clue about this problem. This can kill drivers and their tow load. I haul horses. If I didn’t press the issue with my first dealer I would still be driving a loaded gun. 2015 F150

  9. Jon Castleton says:

Just bought a used 2015 F-150 Lariat and after a few days noticed that the steering was pulling to the right sometimes and then it would start pulling to the left. I took it in for an alignment and the mechanic tried and tried to fix the problem but never could get it to stop pulling one way or the other!
Ford really needs to do a recall on this issue!
Please include me in this class action lawsuit.

    1. Christy says:

  10. Leland J West Jr says:

I just purchased a 2018 f150 xl used with 21500 mi. I have had two episodes where the truck would not go straight after turning. I thought I had a flat tire on the left front by the way it was pulling. I’ve only had the truck for two days. Please put me on the list for this.
