ford steering wheelA class action lawsuit claims that Ford F-150 trucks, model years 2015 to 2019, have defective steering systems which causes the wheel to pull to the left or the right, leaving the driver to temporarily lose control.

The Ford F-150 class action lawsuit was filed by Mark Lincoln who says that he noticed the steering problem upon purchasing a 2016 vehicle, and was told that he could bring it back for an alignment which would fix the problem.

Allegedly, Lincoln bought his vehicle back for an alignment on July 9, 2018, but that did not fix the problem. Additionally, he says that he had his tires rebalanced, but that did not solve the problem.

The Ford steering alignment class action goes on to state that after he experienced multiple problems with his 2016 Ford F-150, including “erratic steering and pulling,” Lincoln traded his 2016 vehicle in and purchased a 2017 Ford F-150 vehicle.

He says that he had to pay a $5,000 adjustment for the 2017  vehicle, which had around 27,188 miles on the odometer on the date of purchase.

The Ford F-150 class action lawsuit claims that when Lincoln purchased the 2017 vehicle, he reviewed the sticker that was placed on the window of the vehicle advertising the vehicle’s features, including equipment, warranty, and crash test ratings.

Allegedly, Lincoln relied on the advertisements on the sticker to make his purchasing decision, noting that the sticker did not disclose that the vehicle suffered from any defects.

According to Lincoln, when he drove the vehicle home, he noticed that it pulled and drifted in both directions. He says that Ford would do a re-alignment free of charge, but that the alignment did not correct the erratic steering.

In the fall, Lincoln complained again about the erratic steering, at which point Ford adjusted the alignment and steering gear assembly, and replaced the shaft seal. However, the problem allegedly persisted.

Lincoln claims that he brought both trucks in for service on multiple occasions but Ford failed to fix the problem. He says that he has faced financial injury trying to fix the problem, including incurring costs related to purchasing his new vehicle, and including lost wages because he had to miss work to try to deal with the vehicle problems.

He says that he and many other customers experienced the steering defect, and were financially injured because of it. Lincoln seeks damages on behalf of himself and all other similarly affected customers.

Same issues. Just happened first time today. 2017 F150 King Ranch

  2. Kenneth Fryberger says:

My 2015 started wondering right and left. And steering would stick and not return to center at 20.000 miles. Dealer said nothing wrong with it. Problem sort of went away for awhile. Now at 45.000 mile doing it again. Very dangerous when it’s a constant battle to keep it on the road.

I have 2017 F150 Limited. Steering feels knocked at times. Driving down the freeway it is hard to hold my lane at times as I swerve back and forth in the lane trying to hold a straight line. It will be that way for a week and the. The truck sits a few days and will stop. Then at some point I make a sharp turn and it starts again. Taken truck in several times and they claim they test drive it and not able to replicate. Frustrating to buy a top of the lone truck and drives so poorly!

  5. Rick Merina says:

Steering gear on my 2016 f150 super crew at 46k miles has gone out. Dealership said it’s ‘very rare’ and it’s gonna be $2700 to replace it. Ridiculous!

  6. Devon Johnson says:

2016 F150 I just purchased. While towing my travel trailer it would pull hard to one side, after a turn it would pull hard in the other direction. I thought there was something wrong with my trailer brakes, but the brakes never were even warm to the touch, and after disconnecting the trainer the steering was still pulling hard to the right. After a few miles it straightened out.

  7. Bill Richards says:

2012 F150 – power steering assist fault with loss of steering control. EPSA system is faulty. Ford needs to recall all vehicles with this system before someone is seriously injured.
Please include me in any class action law suits related to this issue.

I have a 2016 F150 platinum… same thing happened to me on June 11, 2020. I took it to the dealership yesterday and they said they have never come across this before.

  8. Nancy says:

F150 2016..the steering wheel has pulled to the left since I drove it off the lot. Was told that is because of a weighted steering wheel???

    Thanks for posting this.

  9. MIKE BROWN says:

Bought a 2015 150 wants to pull to the left and right all the time, steering is jerky when backing up. Are taking it to a dealer they said that is strange but could not find a fix

I have a 2011 F-150. During a drive out of town with my son, the truck suddenly pulled to the right as I was trying to pass into the left lane on the freeway. I almost hit the vehicle to the right of me because of it. It also started making a loud horrible screeching noise, and the power steering assist & advance track assist lights came on as well. I ended up driving “carefully” to a motel and we stayed there for the night while my wife, at home looked into what the issue could be. I thought if it was an easy and cheap fix, I could do it myself. In the morning when I spoke to her, she told me what it was and that she thought it was recalled, but when she read it again it was only on the 2014 F-150s. The 2011 F-150 was Ford’s first year of putting this steering assist system in them. Therefore, shouldn’t all f-150s between 2011 and 2019 have a recall? That’s what my wife and I are thinking. We just bought this truck 5 months ago. Put quite a lot down on it too. All just to have her sitting there doing nothing. I’m supposed to have my wife to the Dr every month, but I don’t have the finances to get it repaired at this time. For me, it’ll take a few months to save $1,400 for a repair like that. I can’t drive it like that either. However, I did have to drive it from TN back to MI like that. Driving through the mountains was the worst. I have to tell you, if you’re not an experienced driver, you shouldn’t be driving a vehicle in that condition. It shouldn’t be driven at all because the truck will only get worse. I wouldn’t have been able to get back home though. I didn’t have any choice. My wife called the Ford dealership and she was told that, first, they agreed that sounded exactly like what the problem was, but Ford wouldn’t take care of the cost. No, I have to. This is definitely a defect in which life could be lost. I know I was very lucky to make it back home without being in an accident, but again, Ford gave me no other choice. What was I going to do, walk back home to MI from TN with my son? I guess I should’ve known that when going on a 4 day trip with my son, I should have $2,000 saved up in the bank just in case something like that happens. That’s $2,000 on top of the money I would need for the trip. I didn’t even need half of that for the cost of the trip. It’s ridiculous that being such a dangerous thing wrong with these vehicles and Ford won’t put out a recall on them. I have since then (May 8th till now), been looking online about this issue and I’ve seen about 30 people post something about their Ford f-150 having the same issue. I REALLY need to tell Ford to buck up and deal with this issue before something like a death happens because of this issue. I have read about people with trucks from 2011 through 2018 with this exact same problem. Most Ford f-150 owners have read about how this problem occurred and that Ford has now started fixing the problem. Ford just won’t deal with the trucks they already have on the road, except the 2014s. I wonder why they chose that year? It’s weird that they picked a year right in the middle of it all and that’s it.
I wanted to add in here that this may not be the same problem as the case that is already posted, and that if it isn’t, then there SHOULD be a class action lawsuit against them for I and a lot of other f-150 owners are going through. What would be cheaper to them though. A recall, a death or 2, or a class action lawsuit? I’m not a big fan of talking on the phone, so could someone email me at:
[email protected] to help my wife and I deal with this issue? Thank you very much for ??
