ford steering wheelA class action lawsuit claims that Ford F-150 trucks, model years 2015 to 2019, have defective steering systems which causes the wheel to pull to the left or the right, leaving the driver to temporarily lose control.

The Ford F-150 class action lawsuit was filed by Mark Lincoln who says that he noticed the steering problem upon purchasing a 2016 vehicle, and was told that he could bring it back for an alignment which would fix the problem.

Allegedly, Lincoln bought his vehicle back for an alignment on July 9, 2018, but that did not fix the problem. Additionally, he says that he had his tires rebalanced, but that did not solve the problem.

The Ford steering alignment class action goes on to state that after he experienced multiple problems with his 2016 Ford F-150, including “erratic steering and pulling,” Lincoln traded his 2016 vehicle in and purchased a 2017 Ford F-150 vehicle.

He says that he had to pay a $5,000 adjustment for the 2017  vehicle, which had around 27,188 miles on the odometer on the date of purchase.

The Ford F-150 class action lawsuit claims that when Lincoln purchased the 2017 vehicle, he reviewed the sticker that was placed on the window of the vehicle advertising the vehicle’s features, including equipment, warranty, and crash test ratings.

Allegedly, Lincoln relied on the advertisements on the sticker to make his purchasing decision, noting that the sticker did not disclose that the vehicle suffered from any defects.

According to Lincoln, when he drove the vehicle home, he noticed that it pulled and drifted in both directions. He says that Ford would do a re-alignment free of charge, but that the alignment did not correct the erratic steering.

In the fall, Lincoln complained again about the erratic steering, at which point Ford adjusted the alignment and steering gear assembly, and replaced the shaft seal. However, the problem allegedly persisted.

Lincoln claims that he brought both trucks in for service on multiple occasions but Ford failed to fix the problem. He says that he has faced financial injury trying to fix the problem, including incurring costs related to purchasing his new vehicle, and including lost wages because he had to miss work to try to deal with the vehicle problems.

He says that he and many other customers experienced the steering defect, and were financially injured because of it. Lincoln seeks damages on behalf of himself and all other similarly affected customers.

I have a 2018 F150 Limited with about 1″ of slack or play in the steering wheel. I just bought it used with 36,000 miles, online. It arrived with the play in the steering wheel. Is there nothing that can fix it?

Driving to work this morning in my 2014 F150 FX4, lost all power steering with that fault as well as TracControl Fault, Hill Descent Fault popping up on dash. Pulled over, turned the ignition off, started the truck again. It was good for about 15 miles and did it again. My truck was made in 7/14, one month after the recall dates. Have to call the dealership tomorrow to see what can be done.

My 2018 F150 has about an inch of play in it at TDC . Wanders alot makes it hard to maintain the lane.

  4. Cody Dixon says:

2015 late model. Feels like there’s a lot of play in the front end but everything’s tight, wheels and tires are good as well. Sways left and right on the highway on a good day. Quite hard to keep between the lines on a windy day

  5. Robert Lansey says:

My 2011 fx4 is all over the road from left to right brand new tiers

  6. David says:

My 2017 f150 pulls to the left and seems to want to take control of the truck while driving. At times there seems to be a clicking feel to it while straightening out the wheel.

  7. Lori says:

2016 F150 exact same issues. Multiple trips to dealer, multiple alignments done, no fix. Traded the truck with 47,000 miles on it for another 2016 F150 with 32,000 miles and after only a few weeks it has developed the same issues. At this point I’ve lost so much money I’m stuck.

  8. Jim Zellmann says:

My 2014 F-150 with 100,000 miles lost all power steering without a notice while I was on the high way – I was glad no one was close to me at the time but what a scary feeling. Does anyone know if there was any type of recall on this. The best price I got to replace the steering rack is right around $2,000.00. Any help on this would be great

    1. Christine Berger says:

Yes, I did see a recall about that. I’m having the same problem, but mine is a 2011. The recall was only for certain months in 2014. Good luck!

  9. Kyle B. says:

My 2018 Ford F150 Supercrew had a complete powering steering failure today. No advanced warning, no warning lights, just stopped working. Pretty scary when you are exiting the highway and your power steering fails. The truck is being towed to dealership tomorrow.

  10. Shane Bubacz says:

2017 F150, the steering wanted to stay to the left or right snd would not come back to center. Started hearing weird noises, no the power steering went out. It is in the shop getting replaced which is very expensive!
