ford steering wheelA class action lawsuit claims that Ford F-150 trucks, model years 2015 to 2019, have defective steering systems which causes the wheel to pull to the left or the right, leaving the driver to temporarily lose control.

The Ford F-150 class action lawsuit was filed by Mark Lincoln who says that he noticed the steering problem upon purchasing a 2016 vehicle, and was told that he could bring it back for an alignment which would fix the problem.

Allegedly, Lincoln bought his vehicle back for an alignment on July 9, 2018, but that did not fix the problem. Additionally, he says that he had his tires rebalanced, but that did not solve the problem.

The Ford steering alignment class action goes on to state that after he experienced multiple problems with his 2016 Ford F-150, including “erratic steering and pulling,” Lincoln traded his 2016 vehicle in and purchased a 2017 Ford F-150 vehicle.

He says that he had to pay a $5,000 adjustment for the 2017  vehicle, which had around 27,188 miles on the odometer on the date of purchase.

The Ford F-150 class action lawsuit claims that when Lincoln purchased the 2017 vehicle, he reviewed the sticker that was placed on the window of the vehicle advertising the vehicle’s features, including equipment, warranty, and crash test ratings.

Allegedly, Lincoln relied on the advertisements on the sticker to make his purchasing decision, noting that the sticker did not disclose that the vehicle suffered from any defects.

According to Lincoln, when he drove the vehicle home, he noticed that it pulled and drifted in both directions. He says that Ford would do a re-alignment free of charge, but that the alignment did not correct the erratic steering.

In the fall, Lincoln complained again about the erratic steering, at which point Ford adjusted the alignment and steering gear assembly, and replaced the shaft seal. However, the problem allegedly persisted.

Lincoln claims that he brought both trucks in for service on multiple occasions but Ford failed to fix the problem. He says that he has faced financial injury trying to fix the problem, including incurring costs related to purchasing his new vehicle, and including lost wages because he had to miss work to try to deal with the vehicle problems.

He says that he and many other customers experienced the steering defect, and were financially injured because of it. Lincoln seeks damages on behalf of himself and all other similarly affected customers.

I have a 2016 F-150, the steering is intermittent at best! It goes from loose to tight as I am taking a corner.

Problems here too. Changed differential lock actuator. Steering wheel/tires jerking me left to right. Grinding noise. 4wd wasn’t working. Had left 4wd actuator changed. Kept complaining about how it felt like the steering wheel and tires weren’t connecting. Finally, it wasn’t drivable. Dash board message said: Steering Assist Fault Service Required. Had it towed to Ford. They’re saying the truck needs Power Steering Rack & Pinion. $$$ later! I saw where there was a recall on the Ford F-150 trucks with this very problem.

I owed a 2016 lariat. I bought it brand new in 2017. I had no issues till 2022. My issues were the same as Lincoln’s claim. I had to get it towed to the shop because how bad it was. The made repairs and claimed it as normal wear and I paid over $5,000 in repairs…. plus a week without my vehicle. After getting it back it wasn’t 2 month it started pulling in directions again.. The dealership said it needes an alignment so I had it done and had to pay for it… Again this time bot even a month it continues to pull. Now in November of 2023 my truck randomly pulled to the left causing me to crash, totaling my truck and Substanning injuries.

I have a 2017 F 150 XLT and have been experiencing issues with steering. While driving the steering wheel will sometimes jerk and the truck will drift. This lasts for a few minutes, then it seems to stop. I never know when it will occur, so it is unsettlingly. I have checked the battery and replaced the fuse which seemed to help for a while, then it started doing it again a couple of days ago.

2016 Ford F150 4×4. 105k miles. The $60,000 truck sets in my driveway, undrivable due to the fact that once the power steering went out you can no longer steer the vehicle whatsoever.

  6. Corey DeLasaux says:

2018 Ford Raptor, at 78k miles through a ton of errors on my dash and the lane keeping system was jerking the steering wheel for what seemed like 20 seconds, it was probably shorter though I was on the highway fighting it. Then power assistance just completely dropped and had a manual wheel. Not a good feeling in Phoenix, in heavy traffic, while it’s raining, and im not familiar with the area.
When I restarted the truck, everything came up normally for a few hundred miles and it would fault again, so I limped it back to California where it’s been sitting for almost a year waiting on the backlog of steering racks to this day.

2016 F150 XLT FX4 SCREW Mine went out with very little warning it started first with some intermittent loss of steering then threw codes and I lost all steering. Could have been very dangerous situation if I was not going slow.. I was able to wrestle it to the shop. There are no replacements available so now my truck is a brick and I’m still paying for it…

  8. Eric Aviles says:

I have the same problem With my 2017 F150 intermittent steering wander and binding feels dangerous especially on crowded roads and in the wind!!!

  9. Stacy Rathburn says:
