ford steering wheelA class action lawsuit claims that Ford F-150 trucks, model years 2015 to 2019, have defective steering systems which causes the wheel to pull to the left or the right, leaving the driver to temporarily lose control.

The Ford F-150 class action lawsuit was filed by Mark Lincoln who says that he noticed the steering problem upon purchasing a 2016 vehicle, and was told that he could bring it back for an alignment which would fix the problem.

Allegedly, Lincoln bought his vehicle back for an alignment on July 9, 2018, but that did not fix the problem. Additionally, he says that he had his tires rebalanced, but that did not solve the problem.

The Ford steering alignment class action goes on to state that after he experienced multiple problems with his 2016 Ford F-150, including “erratic steering and pulling,” Lincoln traded his 2016 vehicle in and purchased a 2017 Ford F-150 vehicle.

He says that he had to pay a $5,000 adjustment for the 2017  vehicle, which had around 27,188 miles on the odometer on the date of purchase.

The Ford F-150 class action lawsuit claims that when Lincoln purchased the 2017 vehicle, he reviewed the sticker that was placed on the window of the vehicle advertising the vehicle’s features, including equipment, warranty, and crash test ratings.

Allegedly, Lincoln relied on the advertisements on the sticker to make his purchasing decision, noting that the sticker did not disclose that the vehicle suffered from any defects.

According to Lincoln, when he drove the vehicle home, he noticed that it pulled and drifted in both directions. He says that Ford would do a re-alignment free of charge, but that the alignment did not correct the erratic steering.

In the fall, Lincoln complained again about the erratic steering, at which point Ford adjusted the alignment and steering gear assembly, and replaced the shaft seal. However, the problem allegedly persisted.

Lincoln claims that he brought both trucks in for service on multiple occasions but Ford failed to fix the problem. He says that he has faced financial injury trying to fix the problem, including incurring costs related to purchasing his new vehicle, and including lost wages because he had to miss work to try to deal with the vehicle problems.

He says that he and many other customers experienced the steering defect, and were financially injured because of it. Lincoln seeks damages on behalf of himself and all other similarly affected customers.

2013 FORD F150 is having the Steering Modular replace $2,350.00. they did not attempt to work on it untill after replacing the Lead Frame in the Transmission. They had the truck for 128 days when they said the lead frame has been replaced. I asked about the steering and they said we will call you right back. They forgot it and said we may get the Steering Modular in monday or tuesday. It is now thursday and I have been without transportation for 135 days now. The Steering Modular should also be a recall because of the amount of people who have now been having problems with steering

My 2016 F150 I bought used in 2020. It’s always had a weird noise that sounds like your are hitting rumble strips even on a smooth road. Nobody has been able to figure out what it is. It recently started this pulling/sticking issue in the steering. Especially turning to the left but it does it even on a straight road. It will stick and I’ll have to jerk it into place.

It just happened to me i have a F150 2017 with only 66,344 miles its going to coast me $3400.00 out my pocket . I hope ford repays me 4.15.2023

My 2017 F-150 decided it doesn’t want power steering. Started acting funny on the drive home. Felt like a stepper motor pausing between steps. Eventually failed altogether about a mile from home. Power steering fault message appeared on the dash, and system went into full manual steering mode. Barely got home with it. Tried resetting the computer by disconnecting the battery, it didn’t work. Still has no power assist.

I bought a 2017 F150 new. At 80,000 miles after making a turn I heard a noise it sounded like a stick or rock in the tire. I didn’t find anything so we raised the hood . When we turned the steering wheel it was making the popping sound. The power steering was still working at this time. The next day I cranked the truck and a steering assist code came up . There was no power steering . A wrecker had to pick up the truck. I have been told the part alone was $1,700.

  9. Warren Foord says:

I have the same issue with my 2017 F150 XLT (72k km). Truck feels like it’s pulling into a rut, but on a flat road. This happens both to the right and left. Had it at the dealership a few weeks ago to check the 4×4 that was making a knocking/grinding noise, but was told that nothing is wrong.

  10. GABRIEL LOPEZ says:

I love my truck but the steering has locked randomly while turning left since I bought it new in 2015. I took it to the dealer several times but they said it was fine and that there were no codes. They did do a software update but no change. I am now over 100K and it still does it. It is pretty scary when it happens. I hope Ford will step up and help a loyal Ford/Ford Credit customer.
