ford steering wheelA class action lawsuit claims that Ford F-150 trucks, model years 2015 to 2019, have defective steering systems which causes the wheel to pull to the left or the right, leaving the driver to temporarily lose control.

The Ford F-150 class action lawsuit was filed by Mark Lincoln who says that he noticed the steering problem upon purchasing a 2016 vehicle, and was told that he could bring it back for an alignment which would fix the problem.

Allegedly, Lincoln bought his vehicle back for an alignment on July 9, 2018, but that did not fix the problem. Additionally, he says that he had his tires rebalanced, but that did not solve the problem.

The Ford steering alignment class action goes on to state that after he experienced multiple problems with his 2016 Ford F-150, including “erratic steering and pulling,” Lincoln traded his 2016 vehicle in and purchased a 2017 Ford F-150 vehicle.

He says that he had to pay a $5,000 adjustment for the 2017  vehicle, which had around 27,188 miles on the odometer on the date of purchase.

The Ford F-150 class action lawsuit claims that when Lincoln purchased the 2017 vehicle, he reviewed the sticker that was placed on the window of the vehicle advertising the vehicle’s features, including equipment, warranty, and crash test ratings.

Allegedly, Lincoln relied on the advertisements on the sticker to make his purchasing decision, noting that the sticker did not disclose that the vehicle suffered from any defects.

According to Lincoln, when he drove the vehicle home, he noticed that it pulled and drifted in both directions. He says that Ford would do a re-alignment free of charge, but that the alignment did not correct the erratic steering.

In the fall, Lincoln complained again about the erratic steering, at which point Ford adjusted the alignment and steering gear assembly, and replaced the shaft seal. However, the problem allegedly persisted.

Lincoln claims that he brought both trucks in for service on multiple occasions but Ford failed to fix the problem. He says that he has faced financial injury trying to fix the problem, including incurring costs related to purchasing his new vehicle, and including lost wages because he had to miss work to try to deal with the vehicle problems.

He says that he and many other customers experienced the steering defect, and were financially injured because of it. Lincoln seeks damages on behalf of himself and all other similarly affected customers.

I have a F150 platinum that I purchased used earlier this year. It pulls to the left and right and it is very annoying. This is unsafe! The vehicle will not hold center. Seems as if the steering wheel is sticking. I brought my vehicle in to services for this issue and was told that it was the settings I had on (keep lane assist) o advised them that I had already turned off those features, they insisted the problem was related to the settings and that it was fixed. Also I was charged $145.00 and the problem continues till this day. Please if anyone finds out what can fix this issue or have an update on this lawsuit pleas email me a bro.timothy32.tw@gmail. This is a very unsafe issue and it is extremely frustrating that know one can fix this.

I have a 2016 F150 and it drifts quite a bit. Also at times I hear an awful grinding and clunking coming from the front drivers wheel. It feels like my wheel is going to fall off then goes away as if nothing was ever wrong.
Just tonight I stopped at the store and I lost all power steaing when I started the truck again.
I parked the truck and stayed an hour later and power steering is working again. Another issue I have been having is when I stop for a second at the store get back in and my truck wont start. Its like I have a dead battery or it’s just turning over wicked hard. After a few minutes it starts right up.

Same issue. Recently purchased a 2019 F150. It was at the dealer within 30 days for a steering issue. They tried the alignment. That did not fix the issue. I’ve had the truck back twice since then. They keep telling me that it’s aligned. We drove the truck with the lead technicians. He acknowledged the drift. It’s still not fixed. Less than 6,000 miles.

Have a 2019 f150 with 6k miles on it. Same steering problem as mentioned above.

  6. Rod S. says:

I am 2018 F150 owner with the same steering drift problem. The steering wheel will not hold center and drifts left and right. Ford refuses to acknowledge the issue and will not fix it. Multiple dealership visits over the past 2 years and no luck. Hopefully this lawsuit gains some traction. Owners with this issue should also file a online complaint with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA).

  7. Jerrid Cobb says:

I have a 2017 F150, drifts often. I thought it was because I have slightly larger tires on it with a leveling kit. However, multiple alignments, currently getting ball joints replaced, but then my power steering completely cut out. Nervous that it will be the rack and pinion from what I have read.

  8. Ron Jean says:

I just purchased a 2019 Ford F150 . The steering seems to have too much play. Have not contacted the dealer yet. Will so soon.

  9. Joe M. says:

2018 Ford F-150 6500 miles. I’m having trouble with the truck going straight. Sometimes it drifts to the left and sometimes to the right.

  10. David Craig says:

My 2016 F-150 with 48k mike on it is also experiencing the same issue. Suddenly pulls to the right. Steering feels a little heavy.
