ford steering wheelA class action lawsuit claims that Ford F-150 trucks, model years 2015 to 2019, have defective steering systems which causes the wheel to pull to the left or the right, leaving the driver to temporarily lose control.

The Ford F-150 class action lawsuit was filed by Mark Lincoln who says that he noticed the steering problem upon purchasing a 2016 vehicle, and was told that he could bring it back for an alignment which would fix the problem.

Allegedly, Lincoln bought his vehicle back for an alignment on July 9, 2018, but that did not fix the problem. Additionally, he says that he had his tires rebalanced, but that did not solve the problem.

The Ford steering alignment class action goes on to state that after he experienced multiple problems with his 2016 Ford F-150, including “erratic steering and pulling,” Lincoln traded his 2016 vehicle in and purchased a 2017 Ford F-150 vehicle.

He says that he had to pay a $5,000 adjustment for the 2017  vehicle, which had around 27,188 miles on the odometer on the date of purchase.

The Ford F-150 class action lawsuit claims that when Lincoln purchased the 2017 vehicle, he reviewed the sticker that was placed on the window of the vehicle advertising the vehicle’s features, including equipment, warranty, and crash test ratings.

Allegedly, Lincoln relied on the advertisements on the sticker to make his purchasing decision, noting that the sticker did not disclose that the vehicle suffered from any defects.

According to Lincoln, when he drove the vehicle home, he noticed that it pulled and drifted in both directions. He says that Ford would do a re-alignment free of charge, but that the alignment did not correct the erratic steering.

In the fall, Lincoln complained again about the erratic steering, at which point Ford adjusted the alignment and steering gear assembly, and replaced the shaft seal. However, the problem allegedly persisted.

Lincoln claims that he brought both trucks in for service on multiple occasions but Ford failed to fix the problem. He says that he has faced financial injury trying to fix the problem, including incurring costs related to purchasing his new vehicle, and including lost wages because he had to miss work to try to deal with the vehicle problems.

He says that he and many other customers experienced the steering defect, and were financially injured because of it. Lincoln seeks damages on behalf of himself and all other similarly affected customers.

New tires and new alignment. 2019 F-150 XLT 60,000 miles while turning somewhat sharply at highway speeds steering pulls super quick the way I am turning, then doesnt, then does, then doesnt, all in about 4-5 seconds. Its weird and scary.

I have 2016 f150 xlt 4×4 with twin turbos and honestly I love this truck, but I had my electric rack and pinion shut down on me… this is the second time I’ll be replacing my rack assembly since march

2018 F-150 Steering locking up to the right, not centering, steering hard at times, squeaking.

  5. Annette Pezza says:

This past weekend I was in a parking lot and my steering went out and veered to the right and I hit a tree. The air bags did not deploy and my seatbelt did not lock. The driver side side panel started smoking so much that the by standards came over to me to get me out as we all thought my truck side panel was on fire. Had the truck towed to Ford dealer and the manager of the body shop came out to the truck with me and played with the steering and said it was definitely locked up and will have Ford look at it and take care of it. Now I received a bill $9035 to fix the front passengers corner and no mention of the defective steering, defective seatbelt or ford handling it.

My 2016 ford f-150 will pull to the right and left at random times. Super annoying to deal with, hoping it doesn’t turn into something more serious.

2017 Ford F150 xlt sport steering seemed loose at times or jerky maybe a better description. Yesterday I was driving my granddaughter and her friend to the mall. My steering got stuck while making a turn. I jerked it and was able to keep from hitting the oncoming cars. I had to continue to a safe place to pull over and struggled to get it pulled over. Had it towed and it is being looked at.

  8. John Pina says:

2018 F-150, steering went out yesterday, needs rack replaced, dealership well aware of the issue as they have had many cases with the same problem.
    Why no recalls?

  9. Ronald Tanner says:

I took my 2016 f150 back to dealer because it drifted left or right,it was still under warranty, they told me it was with in specs,so I had to live with it

  10. Kyle Rhyne says:

2015 f150, steering pulls intermittently to left or right, does not return to center and has major drag when making turns. Will randomly pull you from line to line without warning.
