ford steering wheelA class action lawsuit claims that Ford F-150 trucks, model years 2015 to 2019, have defective steering systems which causes the wheel to pull to the left or the right, leaving the driver to temporarily lose control.

The Ford F-150 class action lawsuit was filed by Mark Lincoln who says that he noticed the steering problem upon purchasing a 2016 vehicle, and was told that he could bring it back for an alignment which would fix the problem.

Allegedly, Lincoln bought his vehicle back for an alignment on July 9, 2018, but that did not fix the problem. Additionally, he says that he had his tires rebalanced, but that did not solve the problem.

The Ford steering alignment class action goes on to state that after he experienced multiple problems with his 2016 Ford F-150, including “erratic steering and pulling,” Lincoln traded his 2016 vehicle in and purchased a 2017 Ford F-150 vehicle.

He says that he had to pay a $5,000 adjustment for the 2017  vehicle, which had around 27,188 miles on the odometer on the date of purchase.

The Ford F-150 class action lawsuit claims that when Lincoln purchased the 2017 vehicle, he reviewed the sticker that was placed on the window of the vehicle advertising the vehicle’s features, including equipment, warranty, and crash test ratings.

Allegedly, Lincoln relied on the advertisements on the sticker to make his purchasing decision, noting that the sticker did not disclose that the vehicle suffered from any defects.

According to Lincoln, when he drove the vehicle home, he noticed that it pulled and drifted in both directions. He says that Ford would do a re-alignment free of charge, but that the alignment did not correct the erratic steering.

In the fall, Lincoln complained again about the erratic steering, at which point Ford adjusted the alignment and steering gear assembly, and replaced the shaft seal. However, the problem allegedly persisted.

Lincoln claims that he brought both trucks in for service on multiple occasions but Ford failed to fix the problem. He says that he has faced financial injury trying to fix the problem, including incurring costs related to purchasing his new vehicle, and including lost wages because he had to miss work to try to deal with the vehicle problems.

He says that he and many other customers experienced the steering defect, and were financially injured because of it. Lincoln seeks damages on behalf of himself and all other similarly affected customers.

Same exact problem as the complainant describes. Took to Ford, they said nothing is wrong. I’m scared to drive it b/c I’m going to get in a wreck.

  2. First on race day says:

I bought a 2017 F-150 with about 12,000 miles on it. Drove it until it broke. Insurance won’t cover it because it’s a Ford problem. Ford says that there’s no recall. Now I’ve got to make the payment AND make the repair.

I just bought a 2018 f150 with 33333 miles on it I noticed it pull to the left as I was driving it home after I picked it up I call the dealer and set up an appointment to check it out. I didn’t take it to them at that time because I noticed the air in both tires were low so I filled up and drove it it seem better p, but the next day driving it it pulls to the Left. My truck feels like I’m drive an F550 now not like the 2010 f150 I had I love the but not how it feels driving it on how it steers

I have a 2017 F150 XL that has steering issue, 84K on it has what I would call an over correction on returning to center. I have an appt with a local garage to have it looked at next week. How do I join this?

I have a 2016 f-150 crewcab made in Canada. I puchased it locally in Coery Pa. I have had a difficult time with thus trucks steering and alugnments. U replaced the itermediate steering shaft. Problem still persist. Numerous allignments and it eats new tires for lunch. Im not impressed with my purchase. I have owned a 2012 and a 2010 f-150’s and both were assembled in Dearborn Mi. Much better quality and less troublesome than this truck. I ve had all tge recalls done at a Ford dealership which were 16 all together. Now i am faced with the constant nagging of the steering in this truck. Front components are all tight. Tires n wheels good but problem still persists. Brought to attention of ford and like others didn’t have a clue what was the problem. Just throwing service at it without knowing the true problem doesn’t fix it or keep customers happy.

I experienced the same issue today when I took my 2017 F-150 XLT-Sport v8..etc etc. Tithe ford dealership after being told by 3 mechanics I had no issues and “I’m not the mechanic I’m the driver” whom so happens to be a 5 foot tall 100lbs white female (of course they downplay my knowledge of MY truck), told me after they drove it around the lot and up the street and back that nothing was wrong with it and I need to worry when the steering wheel doesn’t turn or is hard to turn, not to worry that my steering wheel is unalighned with the tires and tsteering wheel takes almost two full 360 degree turns in either direction to get the tires to finally engage and turn. They said all they could do is replace my battery and hope I’m satisfied???!?!? Seriously? I’ve almost wrecked on the highway and main coty roads 45mph+ usually on so many occasions I had to find alternative means to have my daughter picked up after school because I don’t feels are driving it with her in the vehicle, risking her life too. I’ve had the truck since July 2021, put maybe 15,000 miles on it with brand new tires and brakes etc etc before leaving the lot.. have had maintenance done every 3000 miles, but as of today’s maintenance appt, the dealership couldn’t rotate my tires because the lug nuts are swollen and they didn’t want to risk stripping them” WTF . FIRST FORD. LAST FORD. Help.

  7. Wilfredo Rivas says:

I have been experiencing the same issue I have taken this to the dealership twice. They blamed it on my tires and alignment. I got those fixed same issue. I almost hit an oncoming vehicle because of this problem. My local dealer stated they could not help me unless I can replicate the problem on site. This happens randomly and only for a short time.

I own 2018 F150 3.0 Diesel 4×4 with 30,000 miles. Just took it into Ford Dealer to get final recall done before warranty expires 3/2022,. Took it in for Campaign/NHTSA#
20C03/20V097 DAYTIME RUNNING LAMPS (DRL) and Campaign#
20M04 CSP POWER DOOR LOCK ACTUATOR FAILURE
plus auto start/stop hasn’t worked for over a year steady. Works when it wants! So I took truck in for these issues 2/18/2022 and they were only able to complete door latch problem and reprogram Daytime running lamp, or so I was told.
So leaving dealership going through a S curve at 46 mph my steering wheel locked to the left, naturally I panicked and jerked wheel back to the right and it worked. Drove home 16 miles without incident. Next day, went back to town drove around town no problem until I drove through S curve at same speed and the steering locked up worse this time, it lasted longer and was harder to correct. Drove home no more issues. This occurred 3 times so far.
I called Dealership that following next day and told them about it and booked appointment for them to do something….. don’t know as service tech couldn’t advise what would be done. The problem I have with dealership was, let’s down play issue and no consideration or understanding to my issue, nor would they get my truck in ASAP to fix problem. Two weeks out for appointment, this is my only vehicle.
Following day I called Ford Customer Care and they said they couldn’t do anything for me, but they did call dealership and try to get me in sooner, to no avail. So I called service manager at dealership explained everything that happened, and he says they need it back in shop to see what’s going on. Duh! I asked have you had or seen this steering issue before? He says No! So I’m concerned that Ford has to know about steering issue, but wont recall the problem. I was reading many different posts and from what I read online it’s a pandemic of steering issues!
Any ideas of how to get Ford to take responsibility?

  9. Don Blackwood says:

Just purchased a used 2016 4wd; have exactly the wandering left (mostly) and right condition; wanders all over the road at highway speed. Alignment to correct toe in improved the condition but did not eliminate it. Second alignment to add caster improved the condition just a bit more, but it’s still there. Local dealer says there are no listed recalls or service bulletins; however, the 2016’s made before 9/2015 had a service bulletin for this exact problem. The PSCM needs calibration. Local dealer has no authority to apply this bulletin to those trucks mfg past that date.

  10. Joe says:

I have the same issue with my 2018 F150 XLT 2wd. Pulls to the left at highway speed and after about 45 mins of driving at speed. Purchased it with 17k miles, 21k now.
