ford steering wheelA class action lawsuit claims that Ford F-150 trucks, model years 2015 to 2019, have defective steering systems which causes the wheel to pull to the left or the right, leaving the driver to temporarily lose control.

The Ford F-150 class action lawsuit was filed by Mark Lincoln who says that he noticed the steering problem upon purchasing a 2016 vehicle, and was told that he could bring it back for an alignment which would fix the problem.

Allegedly, Lincoln bought his vehicle back for an alignment on July 9, 2018, but that did not fix the problem. Additionally, he says that he had his tires rebalanced, but that did not solve the problem.

The Ford steering alignment class action goes on to state that after he experienced multiple problems with his 2016 Ford F-150, including “erratic steering and pulling,” Lincoln traded his 2016 vehicle in and purchased a 2017 Ford F-150 vehicle.

He says that he had to pay a $5,000 adjustment for the 2017  vehicle, which had around 27,188 miles on the odometer on the date of purchase.

The Ford F-150 class action lawsuit claims that when Lincoln purchased the 2017 vehicle, he reviewed the sticker that was placed on the window of the vehicle advertising the vehicle’s features, including equipment, warranty, and crash test ratings.

Allegedly, Lincoln relied on the advertisements on the sticker to make his purchasing decision, noting that the sticker did not disclose that the vehicle suffered from any defects.

According to Lincoln, when he drove the vehicle home, he noticed that it pulled and drifted in both directions. He says that Ford would do a re-alignment free of charge, but that the alignment did not correct the erratic steering.

In the fall, Lincoln complained again about the erratic steering, at which point Ford adjusted the alignment and steering gear assembly, and replaced the shaft seal. However, the problem allegedly persisted.

Lincoln claims that he brought both trucks in for service on multiple occasions but Ford failed to fix the problem. He says that he has faced financial injury trying to fix the problem, including incurring costs related to purchasing his new vehicle, and including lost wages because he had to miss work to try to deal with the vehicle problems.

He says that he and many other customers experienced the steering defect, and were financially injured because of it. Lincoln seeks damages on behalf of himself and all other similarly affected customers.

2018 F150 2WD. 93k miles. Same issues here. I took it in and got new bearings, tires, and an alignment. My steering wheel is many times not straight. When I’m driving, the steering wheel is sometimes in the 9 O’clock position while I’m still going straight. It also randomly will jerk to the left. It almost got me in a wreck a couple times. I’m surprised that this hasn’t become a recall. It’s very dangerous.

Hill assist, cruise control, and ABS are all lights that will randomly come on at the same time also.

My 2017 Pulls left and right at high speeds now I have a code that says steering assist fault, I havent taken it in yet, but I just could imagine how much this is going to cost me.

Hi. I have a 2017 Ford F-150. I’ve also experienced the same issue with my truck. Started pulling to the left or right randomly, then started getting error codes. Getting it repaired now…but gonna be $2500+ to fix all the issues with the power steering.

  5. Bryan J Earsing says:

I have a 2019 with 19300 miles. Purchased new Dec 2020. As soon as I left the lot I noticed it pulled to the left but not bad enough to be a concern, as time went on it became worse. After 2 years just had the front end aligned, tires rotated which are severely cupped on the inside. My mechanic brought the class action lawsuit to my attention.

2014 f-150 4×4 have had in 3 times almost killed me this morning with steering locked up

  10. Billy stacy says:

My 2015 has put me in the ditch twice almost rolled it! Took it to the dealership they said no recall the problem? The electric power steering has failed without notice! The price to fix it $4,000 dollars the pickup isn’t even worth the cost of repairs! Ford should have thought thru before adding electricity to steering on a off-road vehicle. Shame on ford for designing dangerous equipment hopefully this will give a heads up to anyone owning a vehicle with electric steering these vehicles can not be steered at all when modules die and creates a almost total lock up in steering hurtling down the hwy 75 mph! Or any speed at that! You’ve been warned!
