A class action lawsuit claims that Ford F-150 trucks, model years 2015 to 2019, have defective steering systems which causes the wheel to pull to the left or the right, leaving the driver to temporarily lose control.
The Ford F-150 class action lawsuit was filed by Mark Lincoln who says that he noticed the steering problem upon purchasing a 2016 vehicle, and was told that he could bring it back for an alignment which would fix the problem.
Allegedly, Lincoln bought his vehicle back for an alignment on July 9, 2018, but that did not fix the problem. Additionally, he says that he had his tires rebalanced, but that did not solve the problem.
The Ford steering alignment class action goes on to state that after he experienced multiple problems with his 2016 Ford F-150, including “erratic steering and pulling,” Lincoln traded his 2016 vehicle in and purchased a 2017 Ford F-150 vehicle.
He says that he had to pay a $5,000 adjustment for the 2017 vehicle, which had around 27,188 miles on the odometer on the date of purchase.
The Ford F-150 class action lawsuit claims that when Lincoln purchased the 2017 vehicle, he reviewed the sticker that was placed on the window of the vehicle advertising the vehicle’s features, including equipment, warranty, and crash test ratings.
Allegedly, Lincoln relied on the advertisements on the sticker to make his purchasing decision, noting that the sticker did not disclose that the vehicle suffered from any defects.
According to Lincoln, when he drove the vehicle home, he noticed that it pulled and drifted in both directions. He says that Ford would do a re-alignment free of charge, but that the alignment did not correct the erratic steering.
In the fall, Lincoln complained again about the erratic steering, at which point Ford adjusted the alignment and steering gear assembly, and replaced the shaft seal. However, the problem allegedly persisted.
Lincoln claims that he brought both trucks in for service on multiple occasions but Ford failed to fix the problem. He says that he has faced financial injury trying to fix the problem, including incurring costs related to purchasing his new vehicle, and including lost wages because he had to miss work to try to deal with the vehicle problems.
He says that he and many other customers experienced the steering defect, and were financially injured because of it. Lincoln seeks damages on behalf of himself and all other similarly affected customers.

i have been complaining about hard steering when turning for long time, it is not RIGHT! ford garage said it is ok???? have a 150 ford 2014 74k mikes
I’m having the same problem with my 2016 Ford F-150. My steering wheel pulls left then right and feels heavy at times that I’m driving. It also makes a knocking noise at time when I turn left or right and the steering wheel feels loose.
Brought my 2016 F-150 in to a dealership last week for an alignment, was told tie rods needed to be changed first. They changed the tie rods and still couldnt fix the issue. Wants me to bring truck back fore more diagnoses to the power steering unit. Truck pulls to the left at lower speeds and to the right on higher speeds
2017 FX4 99500mi. Steering wheel does not always return to center after turning AND at times pulls to either the left or right. The steering wheel feels like it has detents holding it off center and can hold itself while trying to continue straight. It is not constant and therefore much more dangerous as I never know when it might happen.
Yes I have the same problem. My truck is pulling to the right all the time. I had it align but the computer diagnosis show that the alignment is fine no mechanical issue. I have an appointment to see the dealer on Monday.
2017 Ford F150 with 35,000 miles with the same issue. Going down the road and the truck wants to turn left and or right. Have had this truck in at my local dealership and have done multiple things to see if the issue would go away. First thing I did was rotate the tires problem was still there. Second thing was had the alignment checked (alignment was out a little) still had problem after. Third thing was to change the tires completely and still having the same issue. Dealership states that it is the nature of the truck and could possibly be a ball joint sticking which is causing the issue that you are feeling. Previous truck I had electronic power steering and didn’t have this issue at all. Just wondering if any of you have gotten this issue resolved.
Yes I have all the same problems
2017 Ford F150, 1FTEX1CF0GKD52954, traveled to Florida and after three hours on the road, it was like the power steering went bonkers – white knuckles keeping the truck in the lane. Parked the truck over night and everything was normal again, until on the road for about three hours again, then the same thing happened is this similar to this class action case?
Same problem with lifted 2017 F150 4X4 XLT SPORT.
2017 Ford F150 same exact issue when I bought the vehicle it had 28,000 miles on it and at 62,000 miles everything went sideways it started sounding like a diesel due to the cam phaser recall I’ve taken it in wants to have it looked at and they told me I have to bring it back to have the whole top end of the motor taken apart and the cam phasers replaced also the power steering completely went out prior to the cam phaser issue or actually right about the same time also my ABS and traction control light and park hill brake assist all came on all at the same time around 62,000 miles they said it was the steering gear that the rack and pinion need it be completely replaced and as I see that’s been a recall on other years dealing with the 2017 or just the Ford F150 I’ve had several issues from this vehicle and I am at the end of my rope and I will trade it in in a heartbeat I want to get rid of this track I’ve lost work because of it I’ve had financial clash unbelievably unexpected I paid $51,000 for a truck that has more issues than any vehicle I’ve had in the last 10 years
2016 f150. Same issue as everyone above. I’ve replaced the intermediate steering shaft as this can be a failure point. Power steering works fine sometimes, then will suddenly stiffen, will have to be forced at which point it frees up and overcorrects.
I’ve had my 2016 Ford F-150 at the Ford dealership 4 times in the past 7 months with steering problems. It will be stuck/ real stiff and then go free. Making it very unsafe to drive. There are no codes on dash and dealership can’t find problem and keep sending me sending me on my way.
