ford steering wheelA class action lawsuit claims that Ford F-150 trucks, model years 2015 to 2019, have defective steering systems which causes the wheel to pull to the left or the right, leaving the driver to temporarily lose control.

The Ford F-150 class action lawsuit was filed by Mark Lincoln who says that he noticed the steering problem upon purchasing a 2016 vehicle, and was told that he could bring it back for an alignment which would fix the problem.

Allegedly, Lincoln bought his vehicle back for an alignment on July 9, 2018, but that did not fix the problem. Additionally, he says that he had his tires rebalanced, but that did not solve the problem.

The Ford steering alignment class action goes on to state that after he experienced multiple problems with his 2016 Ford F-150, including “erratic steering and pulling,” Lincoln traded his 2016 vehicle in and purchased a 2017 Ford F-150 vehicle.

He says that he had to pay a $5,000 adjustment for the 2017  vehicle, which had around 27,188 miles on the odometer on the date of purchase.

The Ford F-150 class action lawsuit claims that when Lincoln purchased the 2017 vehicle, he reviewed the sticker that was placed on the window of the vehicle advertising the vehicle’s features, including equipment, warranty, and crash test ratings.

Allegedly, Lincoln relied on the advertisements on the sticker to make his purchasing decision, noting that the sticker did not disclose that the vehicle suffered from any defects.

According to Lincoln, when he drove the vehicle home, he noticed that it pulled and drifted in both directions. He says that Ford would do a re-alignment free of charge, but that the alignment did not correct the erratic steering.

In the fall, Lincoln complained again about the erratic steering, at which point Ford adjusted the alignment and steering gear assembly, and replaced the shaft seal. However, the problem allegedly persisted.

Lincoln claims that he brought both trucks in for service on multiple occasions but Ford failed to fix the problem. He says that he has faced financial injury trying to fix the problem, including incurring costs related to purchasing his new vehicle, and including lost wages because he had to miss work to try to deal with the vehicle problems.

He says that he and many other customers experienced the steering defect, and were financially injured because of it. Lincoln seeks damages on behalf of himself and all other similarly affected customers.

I have posted several times about the same problem all of you are having. My 2019 F150 is having the same problem. Pulls left and at times right. Had it back to the dealership i bought it at three times. Took it to another Ford dealership they notice it pulled or should i say would drift left. They knew or felt it wasn’t quite right and changed the alignment specs. The same old problem. but I’m thinking Ford going to say that’s normal. Won’t know tell i talk to them. No vehicle should ever pull or drift to the left.

I have a 2016 F150 4 wheel drive,16000 miles, driving down the road 40 mph, truck went into slide for no reason, counter steered,(did nothing)went into ditch and flipped on drivers side. The only thing that saved it from being totaled, was the running boards. My first thought was it was the truck, now i’m positive.Thought it was black ice,but the road was dry!

How can I be included in the class action suit. I have the same issue with the pulling left to right. Bought a 2019 F150 in November 2019. They aligned it twice but no difference in drivable. Can not get the steering wheel straight. I have my own shop. Semi retired. My 2004 FX4 with 237k miles drives better than this 2019 with 2000 miles.

Had it realigned by another dealership on 01-25-20. Cost me 74.00. They tried changing the alignment specs. Help some but still have a pull to the left. It’s worse in left lane on a four lane highway. Never seen this before. I’m in touch with Ford. Two many of us are having the same problem

When making sharp steering inputs at interstate speeds in my 2019 F-150, the steering acts and feels as if it not connected to the wheels for 1-2 seconds. Sharp steering inputs result in the front tires doing nothing for 1-2 seconds, and then suddenly act like they are “catching up” with the steering wheel. Again, this happens only at interstate speeds. It is a most disconcerting feeling.

  8. Eric Johansen says:

bought my F150 January 2019, had a 300 mile trip to home on Jan 2, 2019 and notice it had a pull to the Left and later to the Right. The road is single lane up long hills so thought that it could be the ruts from heavy Semi haulers. through the summer I noticed the same pull in either direction (L or R or both intermittently). I got a notice from the Ford vendor that “the first Alignment was FREE, just come into the dealership. Decided not to drive 600 miles for a FREE Alignment. Asked my local Tire Store owner if it is the truck alignment or the roads, He said he doubted that it was alignment, I accepted his statement it is probably the wider tires on this truck vs my 1997 F250 along with the ruts we have everywhere in these parts.
now it is Jan 15 2020. we had a temperature this morning of – 36*C and I plugged in the trucks Block Heater before heading out, started it up and found the steering wheel felt like I was in an old 60’s vehicle with ARM STRONG steering…. What the…… head for the local FORD dealer to inquire, ANSWER”No it should not be that hard to steer it but wait till it warms up” I have an appointment for Jan 23/2020. I am looking into this further in the mean time.

NOTE: I am NOT a fan of Ford’s Electronic assist power steering since the wife’s 2010 ESCAPE steering failed last DEC. Same hard to steer problem but cause is total failure of the ASSIST part of steering which will cost $3000 ++ to fix as the control arms are all one unit.
Replacing the part does not fix a DESIGN ISSUE so the new parts WILL fail again!!! Look in YouTube for a report by a former Ford Electrical Engineer 2010 Escape Steering problem.

I also have a n issue with the Electric Door Lock Mechanism for which they have a Repair call, ” that has been EXTENDED…Any one heard about that?

  9. Edwin M. Rojas says:

I have the same problems with my F-150 2018. It has been for repair 4 times and the mechanics can fix the problem. My truck pull very hard sharp to the left. They did alignment and balance 3 times. They can think outside the box. I suggested to check the four wheel drive mechanism to check the front brake disk etc. The service manager drove with me and say is nothing wrong. when you get new tires it will go away, then he went as far as saying to me you have to drive the truck it is a truck, i said to him excuse me Si, i do have a CDL Driver license with all the endorsements. I request to talk to the general manager he drove the truck with me and admitted that it pull lightly to the left. and will be corrected. I bring the truck again and still doing the same. I complaint to ford via the Florida Lemon Law they told me to bring the truck one more time to be check.I don’t know what the repair involved, but the truck still pull left or right. The best i can described the problem is,
Feel like driving a boat slow that you have to make corrections constantly left or right to keep it straight. These is the 5 Ford product i purchase. Explorer 1996 Van Eco line Club wagon 1998 Explorer 2002 Ford 150 2006 and Ford F-150 2018 I am looking to other options unless Ford take full resposibility for my emotional and financial lost

    1. John w. Castle says:

I bought a 2019 F150 in November 2019. Have the same issue with pull to left and also to the right. Seems to be unstable with different road conditions. Had it back two times. They can not get Steering wheel straight.

  10. calvin says:

    1. John w. Castle says:

Calvin it has a problem. My 2019 has the same problem. And it is dangerous
