ford steering wheelA class action lawsuit claims that Ford F-150 trucks, model years 2015 to 2019, have defective steering systems which causes the wheel to pull to the left or the right, leaving the driver to temporarily lose control.

The Ford F-150 class action lawsuit was filed by Mark Lincoln who says that he noticed the steering problem upon purchasing a 2016 vehicle, and was told that he could bring it back for an alignment which would fix the problem.

Allegedly, Lincoln bought his vehicle back for an alignment on July 9, 2018, but that did not fix the problem. Additionally, he says that he had his tires rebalanced, but that did not solve the problem.

The Ford steering alignment class action goes on to state that after he experienced multiple problems with his 2016 Ford F-150, including “erratic steering and pulling,” Lincoln traded his 2016 vehicle in and purchased a 2017 Ford F-150 vehicle.

He says that he had to pay a $5,000 adjustment for the 2017  vehicle, which had around 27,188 miles on the odometer on the date of purchase.

The Ford F-150 class action lawsuit claims that when Lincoln purchased the 2017 vehicle, he reviewed the sticker that was placed on the window of the vehicle advertising the vehicle’s features, including equipment, warranty, and crash test ratings.

Allegedly, Lincoln relied on the advertisements on the sticker to make his purchasing decision, noting that the sticker did not disclose that the vehicle suffered from any defects.

According to Lincoln, when he drove the vehicle home, he noticed that it pulled and drifted in both directions. He says that Ford would do a re-alignment free of charge, but that the alignment did not correct the erratic steering.

In the fall, Lincoln complained again about the erratic steering, at which point Ford adjusted the alignment and steering gear assembly, and replaced the shaft seal. However, the problem allegedly persisted.

Lincoln claims that he brought both trucks in for service on multiple occasions but Ford failed to fix the problem. He says that he has faced financial injury trying to fix the problem, including incurring costs related to purchasing his new vehicle, and including lost wages because he had to miss work to try to deal with the vehicle problems.

He says that he and many other customers experienced the steering defect, and were financially injured because of it. Lincoln seeks damages on behalf of himself and all other similarly affected customers.

Just jought a used 2015 F150 Lariat FX4 and noticed that the vehicle seems to want to track in a rut in the road while turning either way at 40 mph plus or so. But there’s no rut in the road. You have to turn the wheel slightly to correct, and you don’t feel totally in control for a second or two. I searched the web about the problem and found this page. I haven’t tried to get it fixed yet but now have a lot of info to go by.

I got similar problem on my 2020 f150 king ranch whit only 10000 miles on it,it been on the shop 2 times, first time it was pulling to the left, about 4 months later from purchasing ,they got alignment work done ,it was fine for a few months and then started to pull to the right ,so I brought it back and they did the same work alignment…it was fine for lest than a mont and started to pull to the left again. So I got an appointment again to correct the problem next week.so it will be the third time for the same problem on the same year ,at this time the dealer should realize that there is a problem on the steering system, will post the result of the third appointment on the Ford dealer shop

    I have this problem too. 2018 F150.

  9. Gordon Folse says:

I just purchased a used, Ford Certified 2018 F-150 Super Crew 4WD Limited and didn’t notice any steering issues during a test drive. Then, we took it on a road trip and noticed the steering pulling to the right and the left, intermittently and usually when entering a turn at highway speeds. I was checking internet postings, hoping to find a solution, when I saw the entry for this class action lawsuit. I already have a service appointment scheduled and the vehicle is under warranty, so to be fair, Ford hasn’t had an opportunity to correct the problem. However, my spider sense is now tingling and I’m not expecting a satisfactory resolution after reading of other experiences. I will report back after my service appointment.

I have a 2011 f150 xlt and my steering locked up and we almost hit a parked car. So the told me at Hoffman ford that the computer need to be reset. $250.00 Picked up the truck on a Friday Drove to work and lost steering again. They then said it was a steering sensor in the rack opinion so the whole thing need replaced. $2000.00. was driving it on 5/7/21 with passengers in the truck went to make a turn lost steering and almost hit a car in the other lane. I have reported this issue to Ford and NHTSA and got nothing. This is very dangerous.
