ford steering wheelA class action lawsuit claims that Ford F-150 trucks, model years 2015 to 2019, have defective steering systems which causes the wheel to pull to the left or the right, leaving the driver to temporarily lose control.

The Ford F-150 class action lawsuit was filed by Mark Lincoln who says that he noticed the steering problem upon purchasing a 2016 vehicle, and was told that he could bring it back for an alignment which would fix the problem.

Allegedly, Lincoln bought his vehicle back for an alignment on July 9, 2018, but that did not fix the problem. Additionally, he says that he had his tires rebalanced, but that did not solve the problem.

The Ford steering alignment class action goes on to state that after he experienced multiple problems with his 2016 Ford F-150, including “erratic steering and pulling,” Lincoln traded his 2016 vehicle in and purchased a 2017 Ford F-150 vehicle.

He says that he had to pay a $5,000 adjustment for the 2017  vehicle, which had around 27,188 miles on the odometer on the date of purchase.

The Ford F-150 class action lawsuit claims that when Lincoln purchased the 2017 vehicle, he reviewed the sticker that was placed on the window of the vehicle advertising the vehicle’s features, including equipment, warranty, and crash test ratings.

Allegedly, Lincoln relied on the advertisements on the sticker to make his purchasing decision, noting that the sticker did not disclose that the vehicle suffered from any defects.

According to Lincoln, when he drove the vehicle home, he noticed that it pulled and drifted in both directions. He says that Ford would do a re-alignment free of charge, but that the alignment did not correct the erratic steering.

In the fall, Lincoln complained again about the erratic steering, at which point Ford adjusted the alignment and steering gear assembly, and replaced the shaft seal. However, the problem allegedly persisted.

Lincoln claims that he brought both trucks in for service on multiple occasions but Ford failed to fix the problem. He says that he has faced financial injury trying to fix the problem, including incurring costs related to purchasing his new vehicle, and including lost wages because he had to miss work to try to deal with the vehicle problems.

He says that he and many other customers experienced the steering defect, and were financially injured because of it. Lincoln seeks damages on behalf of himself and all other similarly affected customers.

2016 F1504X4 .. steering randomly jerks left 90% of time 10 % to the right .. new tires . Alignment is good …usually happens under 60km hr. I will take to dealer tomorrow & see what their response is

  2. Marcus hutchinson says:

My 2016 just started doing it as well, but not at all times just after a bump or a rough road

  3. John crepeau says:

My 2016 XLT Sport has a sloppy steering wheel. Play in all directions of more than 2 inches. I don’t drive it. It’s parked in the garage for over 8 months.

  4. Todd E Rudolph says:

My 2016 F150 is doing the same thing very sporadically. I can’t center the steering wheel sometimes, it will jerk left then right over and over. The Ford dealer said they can’t fix it unless they can reproduce the problem. It may not happen for again for months at a time, but is dangerous driving down the highway when it does do it.

  5. Mike says:

I have a 2015 f150 lariat bought it with 39,000 miles it has 76,000 now it drifts bad a lot of play at the top of the steering wheel it can be very scary to drive on the highway or uneven roads I brought it to the dealership and they performed the update which worked for about a day the dealership said if that didn’t fix the issue I would need to put a new steering rack in on my dime

  6. Dan Richards says:

I purchased a 2017 F150 new and took it in at about 1900 miles for an alignment as it pulled to the right. Service told me it really wasn’t out of alignment and I paid for the alignment. It was no different after I got it back. I now have 42k miles on it and it still pulls to the right. My front tires are wearing on the outside of the tread. Hoping for a recall.

  7. Paul says:

I have a 2016 F150 Lariat, having the same issues with the steering as a lot of the other people commenting are. The steering seems to stick off and on while driving.

just bought f150 2015 supercab. pulls to the right noticibly and sometimes to the left. can feel pressure on my hand to hold it steady. reading others say its not alignement is unnerving. Will check my tires pressure often. hope i or my kids do not die in this truck.

Sounds familiar and your arms really get a work out on trips. So dangerous I will mot let my wife or teenage daughter drive it on the road.

  9. Ben Shepherd says:

I have a 2018 with 35,000 mile’s and this is happening too. Clearly there is an issue which needs to be addressed. Hopefully this results in a recall and ultimately a fix.

  10. Wayne L Meyer says:

I have a 2018 f150 bought it last July with 15000 miles on it around 21000 miles starting pulling to the left, had too different dealership do alignment on it says everything is ok, seems to okay for a while then comes back. Very frustrating since I just retired hoping this would be my last truck I would have to buy. Now what?
