AAA building

New Jersey AAA members have reached a class action settlement with the roadside assistance company over claims that it backdates expired memberships.

Class Members include those who, between Jan. 31, 2015 and May 10, 2019, renewed their membership with AAA South Jersey Inc. during the 90 day period after their membership expired.

AAA provides roadside support services for motorists, as well as hotel, airfare, and other deals through their membership.

Lead plaintiffs accused AAA of backdating memberships when they were renewed within that 90 day period, rather than starting the membership when Class Members submitted their renewal. According to the AAA class action, this practice was not disclosed to consumers.

As a result, N.J. AAA members reportedly did not get a full year of membership benefits when they renewed within the 90 day period.

For example, a former member who renewed at the end of the 90 day period would only get about nine months of membership benefits, rather than a full year.

AAA denies any wrongdoing, but agreed to settle the class action lawsuit. Under the terms of the settlement, the organization has agreed to change its practices when it comes to membership renewal.

In addition, AAA will either pay Class Members $11 or provide a two-month extension on their membership.

To benefit from the N.J. AAA class action settlement, Class Members must submit a Claim Form online or via mail that includes their membership number.

The deadline to opt out of or object to the settlement agreement is July 20, 2019.

AAA is back at it again using these same practices once again. i cancelled my policy with them in wrighting and on the phone. I switched to Geico they offer former military discounts. AAA sent me a bill instead of a refund for 600.00 claiming i owed them even though i have it in wrighting . i contested and requested once again they return my money they sent me a bill ! now 7 months later they sent my mother a cancellation notice because im her son she gave me the second aaa card for emergencys roadside. well according to them because i live with her and dont have aaa for insurance they can no longer insure her ! she has an old 2000 honda accord with 80k miles she barely drives because i drive her around and i have a 2000 orange county chopper, a 2000 diesel chevy truck and a 2013 audi q5. so because i cancelled my insurance with them and they refused to permit me to cancel and continued my policy against my wishes and so i carried a double full coverage policy on the same exact car because they refused to cancel they insist on cancelling her as retaliation. she gave me her second aaa card it says you can give the card to anybody in your family it says zero about where they live ! now they are saying ohhh noo it has to be somebody whom lives in your house with you ! better contact millions of college students and let them know because you are living at college and not at home you cannot have your parents aaa card even though they state it says anybody in your family not household. they are still committing fraud and are illegally billing against peoples wishes after cancellation if you are not persuing a case any longer please let me know whom is thank you.
