Anti-Aging Cream Companies May Face False Advertising Charges

By Amanda Antell

Anti-Aging Skincare Products LawsuitThroughout the country, more and more anti-aging creams are coming out into the market, advertising their ability to clear away signs of aging. Many of these creams state that they are based on scientific fact or clinical research and claim to have discovered the perfect recipe for youth through trial and error.

Some of these creams claim to use a new process called “DNA Repair,” which is touted to have the ability to rejuvenate skin cells. Anti-aging creams with this feature may run $92 or more on the market. However, recent class action lawsuits state these claims are exaggerated and misleading to consumers.

Many customers who have used the creams have found that the effects are temporary or nonexistent. Some dermatologists argue that these some of these creams may possibly carry certain ingredients such as as peptides, retinols or enzyme inhibitors, which may provide permanent results to help reduce DNA aging damage. However, most dermatologists also agree that many creams do not have these ingredients and are vastly overpriced.

Men and women across the nation are suing various skin care companies for misrepresenting their anti-aging creams. The products that are subject to a current false advertising class action lawsuit investigation include:

  • Garnier “Nutritioniste” Ultra-Lift Products
  • Eclos Face Serum
  • DermaSilk
  • 3 LAB Super “h” Serum
  • Sunday Riley Bionic
  • Revlon Age Defying with DNA Advantage
  • L’Oreal Paris “Revitalift” Products
  • Youtheory Collagen Tablets
  • Jane Carter Solution

Overview of Anti-Aging Products

Skin care product companies are advertising many of their products as miracle discoveries that eliminate obvious signs of aging. These creams often cost a large amount of money in exchange for small amount of the product and make ambiguous claims that the cream works through various anti-aging properties. These companies often boast that their anti-aging creams are composed of exotic ingredients that smooth out wrinkles in aging skin. Additionally, these companies often have a long history of making false claims in regards to their other products, often stating that their products have certain ingredients that produce miraculous results.

The recent litigation movement against the companies stem from the false advertising claims, which state that the anti-aging creams can help control aging and even counteract the aging process. Some manufacturers even claim that their anti-aging products can deliver results similar to plastic surgery. These plastic surgery claims essentially describe the product’s ability to manipulate the facial skin in some fashion, such as being able to make structural changes to the skin and claiming to accomplish the same result of a skin lift.
