A $45 million Walmart weighted groceries settlement has been reached in Kukorinis v. Walmart Inc., a class action lawsuit that claimed the retailer allowed customers to buy certain weighted groceries for more than the lowest in-store advertised price.ย
The Walmart class action lawsuit settlement class is made up of anyone who purchased weighted goods and bagged citrus in person at a Walmart store between Oct.19, 2018, and Jan. 19, 2024. โWeighted goodsโ refers to variable-weight meat, poultry, pork and seafood products labeled with a price-embedded bar code and designated by Walmart as part of its Department 93 products, while โbagged citrusโ refers to organic oranges, grapefruit, tangerines and navel oranges sold in bulk in mesh or plastic bags.
The plaintiff in Kukorinis v. Walmart Inc. claimed the retailerโs point-of-sale machines would artificially raise the weight of the weighted goods when marked at a discounted โRollbackโ price, causing the total price to be more than the advertised discount.ย
In addition, the superstore allegedly advertised and promoted bagged produce weights that exceeded the actual weight of the product, meaning customers paid more per ounce. Sold-by-weight products on clearance with a reduced-price sticker also had a discrepancy between the advertised per-pound price and the final customer-paid price.ย ย
Walmart is an American retail chain that operates hypermarkets and grocery stores across the United States. As of January 2024, there were 4,622 Walmart stores in the U.S.
The company denies any accusations of wrongdoing but has agreed to the settlement to resolve the claims made in Kukorinis v. Walmart Inc.
Class members can receive a cash payment from the Walmart weighted groceries settlement.
Approved claimants who do not have a receipt or proof of purchase can attest to purchasing a certain amount of weighted goods or produce for a set amount of money. Claimants who attest to buying one to 50 products will receive $10; claimants who purchased 51 to 75 products will receive $15; those who purchased 76 up to 100 products will receive $20; and claimants who attest to purchasing 101 or more products will receive $25.
Approved claimants with receipts or proof of purchase are entitled to receive 2% of the total cost of the substantiated weighted goods and bagged citrus products purchased, up to a cap of $500.ย
Claimants may be able to obtain copies of their receipts on Walmartโs website.
If the amount due to claimants exceeds the amount in the net settlement fund, each claimantโs payment will be decreased proportionately.
The deadline to opt out of or object to the Walmart class action lawsuit settlement is May 22, 2024.
A final approval hearing in the Walmart weighted groceries settlement will take place June 12, 2024.
Claim forms must be submitted by June 5, 2024.

Go to the site, you do NOT NEED a receipt.
Add me please
I to bought groceryโs so please add me to the list
Walmart โ I do have my receipts as I pay by credit card. I need to know if sliced meat purchased from Walmart Deli is included?
It also amazes me that the product numbers on the pages are not in numerical number which makes it almost impossible to find.
Please add me
I already canโt afford the rising cost of living & then to find out Iโm being purposely ripped off by a store I regularly shop, really hurts. And my whole family shops at this store. When I visited family in Missouri & Kansas City, my family & I shop Walmart there too.
Please add me.
Agree 100%,with comment above, that nobody keeps grocery receipts, and those of us who shop a minimum of twice a month, for past 10 years, buying meats, veggies, fruits, potatoes, bagged weighed salads,etc..and PAY CASH, will get hardly anything..IF anything, at all,and the lawyers etc will get a HUGE BULK,of the settlement monies, while children and families will get pennies,if anything, just isnโt fair! (Nor should it be legal!!)
To the ones who do not keep receipts or if they do, the print usually fades away after a year. Have Walmart save them for you. After your transaction you get how you want your text. It offers just a receipt, text or both. I usually will always choose text, or both. Then you just go to your account in the Walmart app and find purchases and then go to the one you need. It shows the exact purchases with pictures
It comes in handy when returning something
NOBODY KEEPS GROCERY RECEIPTS FOR 5+ YEARS! THIS CLASS ACTION ONLY MAKES LAWYERS RICH! THEY SHOULD BE ASHAMED OF THEMSELVES AND POSSIBLY A CLASS ACTION SUIT AGAINST THEM! LAWYERS WILL MAKE $MILLIONS, WHILE THE FEW PACK-RATS IF ANY WHO KEEP THEIR RECEIPTS FOR EVER GET ONLY 2% OF THEIR RECIEPTS. THIS IS BULLS@$T!
Add me please.
The lawyers get it all
5 years of going to Walmart 4 times a month is 240 trips to Walmart buying fruit and meat. But I donโt have the receipts. I only save receipts from purchases that require a service or replacement plan.
Hi Amber,
If you download the Walmart app you will find there is a โpurchase historyโ where you may find receipts. Hope this helps!
Brilliant! Thatโs why Iโm making sure my app gets scanned everytime I make a purchase at walmart from now on.
