MERS Missouri Goodwill Industries agreed to a class action lawsuit settlement to resolve claims that a March 2023 data breach compromised consumer information.
The MERS Missouri Goodwill Industries data breach class action settlement benefits individuals whose personal information was compromised in the March 2023 data breach.
According to the class action lawsuit, MERS Missouri Goodwill Industries failed to protect consumer information from a data breach. The breach allegedly compromised sensitive information, such as Social Security numbers.
MERS Missouri Goodwill Industries is a nonprofit organization that helps people find jobs.
The organization has not admitted any wrongdoing but agreed to pay an undisclosed sum to resolve the data breach class action lawsuit.
Under the terms of the class action settlement, class members can receive up to $500 for ordinary losses, such as unreimbursed fraud or identity theft losses, professional fees, credit monitoring costs and miscellaneous expenses.
Class members can also receive up to $100 for four hours of lost time at a rate of $25 per hour.
Class members who experienced extraordinary losses as a result of the MERS Missouri Goodwill Industries data breach can receive up to $5,000 in additional compensation for documented, unreimbursed monetary losses.
Class members can choose to receive a $50 alternative cash payment instead of the ordinary loss, lost time and extraordinary loss payments.
All class members are eligible for two years of free credit monitoring services and identity theft protection.
The deadline for exclusion and objection is June 6, 2025.
The final approval hearing for the MERS Missouri Goodwill Industries data breach settlement is scheduled for July 10, 2025.
To receive settlement benefits, class members must submit a valid claim form by July 7, 2025.
Who’s Eligible
Individuals whose personal information was compromised in the MERS Missouri Goodwill data breach in March 2023, including those who received a notice of the breach.
