Nationwide consumers who received mortgages through Freedom Mortgage Corp. and paid money for fees on property inspections may be eligible for compensation in the form of a payment as a result of a recent class action lawsuit settlement.

Settlement Class Members include United States citizens who held mortgages through Freedom Mortgage Corp. and paid fees on property inspections after defaulting or being delinquent on their mortgage payments between March 5, 2013, and Dec. 31, 2020.

In the lawsuit documents, Plaintiffs allege that Freedom Mortgage Corporation charged fees to borrowers on mortgage loans unnecessarily and improperly.

The Company denies the allegations of the Plaintiffs and strongly contends that its actions were always lawful and proper. Both the Plaintiffs and Defendants have reviewed the terms of the Proposed Settlement Agreement and believe that it provides an adequate solution to the claims.

Freedom Mortgage Corp. is currently the third-largest lender in the United States. Across the nation, the company employs over 2,000 Americans and makes about $1.18 billion in revenue.

Class Members who submit a valid claim can receive a one-time payment equal to 35 percent of the amount of the first property inspection fee paid to Freedom Mortgage. Class Members will receive another payment of 50 percent of the amount of all inspection fees paid to Freedom Mortgage. The exact amount each individual Class Member will receive hinges on this formula’s calculations on a case-by-case basis and the total amount of claims made in this class action lawsuit.

Class Members who want to seek out individual lawsuits should exclude themselves from this current class action settlement. The deadline to file an exclusion is Dec. 16, 2021.  Class Members who exclude themselves from this class action lawsuit will not receive a payment.

Class Members who do not agree with the terms of the settlement but do not wish to exclude themselves must file an objection by the same date, Dec. 16, 2021.

Class Members who do not take action at all will not receive their share of the settlement fund. Despite that, they will still be bound by the terms of the proposed settlement agreement, which means that they will not be eligible to seek out future litigation regarding this matter.

A final approval hearing will take place Feb. 10, 2021.

The deadline to file a claim in this class action settlement is Dec. 16, 2021.

The same happened to me with the forbearance we are also an active military family United States Air Force. My Husband got deployed in 2023 where from 2023 to now we have been in an active lawsuit against the sellers of our property realtor and realtor company due to undisclosed fire damage and while dealing with that we have tried to submit a deed in lue foreclosure and I have sent over 1000 applications for them to come back and state that documents expired. They never receive documents even though they were sent for different ways. I never signed some documents. What they did was they dual tracked and stalled this process that my house was going into foreclosure and to stop the Fore closing process was to continue the loss mitigation applications, which I have continuously done and now my house for closes tomorrow, September 5, 2025 at 10 AM. Their attorneys office did not help the high up. Supervisors did not help. but what I have found out in this long process is that if you can find out your loan servicer, whatever loan it was under, you should be able to call them and let them know the situation even though our house is being foreclosed on we got it finally sent up as far as Washington DC. Freedom mortage is a scam artist and their company needs shut down considering they are the third largest lending company in the United States.
