Connect Hearing agreed to a collection active settlement to resolve claims it violated federal labor laws by failing to pay all owed wages to patient care coordinators.
The settlement benefits patient care coordinators employed by Connect Hearing between Nov. 15, 2019, and Nov. 15, 2022.
According to the collective action, Connect Hearing forced patient care coordinators to perform off-the-clock work. As a result, these employees were allegedly denied overtime wages and other compensation.
Connect Hearing is a hearing care network and has over 500 employees around the country, making it one of the largest hearing healthcare employers in America. Patient care coordinators at Connect Hearing are the “face of the organization” and are responsible for communicating with patients.
Connect Hearing hasn’t admitted any wrongdoing but agreed to pay an undisclosed sum to resolve the collective action lawsuit.
Under the terms of the settlement, class members can receive a settlement payment based on the number of hours they worked during the class period. Exact payments will vary.
Half of each payment will be treated as wages and be subject to deductions and withholdings. The other half of each payment will be treated as non-wage income. Class members may wish to consult with a tax professional about how their settlement payments will affect their taxes.
There is no exclusion or objection deadline for the settlement.
No final approval hearing is scheduled for the settlement.
In order to receive a settlement payment, class members must submit a valid claim form by May 16, 2023.
