Update:
- The final approval hearing is rescheduled for April 8, 2025.
Artsana agreed to a class action settlement to resolve claims that its Chicco KidFit booster seats are not as safe as advertised, and no proof of purchase is required for consumers to submit a claim.
The settlement benefits consumers who purchased a Chicco KidFit-branded booster seat, including the KidFit, KidFit Zip, KidFit Zip Air, KidFit Luxe, KidFit Plus and KidFit Air Plus models, between April 22, 2015, and Dec. 31, 2021.
Plaintiffs in the Chicco KidFit class action lawsuits claim Artsana falsely advertised its booster seats by misrepresenting the seats’ minimum weight requirements and side impact collision protection. Consumers claim they would not have purchased the booster seats if they had known the truth.
Chicco KidFit booster seats are sold by Artsana, the parent company of several brands of child products.
Artsana hasn’t admitted any wrongdoing but agreed to pay an undisclosed sum to resolve the class action lawsuit.
Under the terms of the settlement, class members can receive a cash payment.
With proof of purchase, class members can receive $50 per product. Without proof of purchase, class members can receive $25 per product.
Artsana also agreed to better inform customers about the weight requirements and safety features of the Chicco KidFit booster seats through an information video and other materials.
The deadline for exclusion and objection is Sept. 7, 2023.
The final approval hearing for the settlement is scheduled for April 8, 2025.
To receive settlement benefits, class members must submit a valid claim form by Jan. 7, 2024.
