A class action settlement resolves claims that Bridgeway Center failed to prevent a 2024 cyber attack that impacted the personal information of employees and patients.
The Bridgeway Center settlement benefits individuals whose personal information the data breach impacted, including those who received a data breach notification from the company in May 2024.
The data breach class action lawsuit claims Bridgeway Center failed to protect patient and employee data from a cyber attack that occurred on or around Feb. 21, 2024. According to plaintiffs in the case, Bridgeway’s negligence allowed hackers to gain access to sensitive data, such as names, Social Security numbers, financial information, protected health information and more.
Bridgeway Center is a behavioral health provider that offers case management, outpatient therapy, housing support, substance use care and other services.
Bridgeway Center hasn’t admitted any wrongdoing but agreed to pay an undisclosed sum to resolve the data breach class action lawsuit.
Under the terms of the Bridgeway Center settlement, class members can receive up to $1,500 in reimbursement for ordinary data breach damages and up to $5,000 for extraordinary losses related to the incident. Ordinary losses include bank fees, credit expenses and other out-of-pocket expenses incurred while responding to the data breach. Extraordinary losses include monetary losses due to fraud or identity theft linked to the data breach.
Class members without losses or those who do not wish to claim reimbursement can instead receive an alternate cash payment of $125. These one-time payments may be reduced on a pro rata basis depending on the number of claims filed and other factors.
The deadline for exclusion and objection is Dec. 26, 2024.
The final approval hearing for the settlement is scheduled for Jan. 24, 2025.
To receive Bridgeway Center data breach settlement benefits, class members must submit a valid claim form by Feb. 8, 2025.
