Accutech Systems Corp. agreed to a class action lawsuit settlement to resolve claims that a 2021 data breach compromised consumer information due to substandard cybersecurity measures.
The settlement benefits consumers who received a notice from Accutech that their personal information may have been exposed as a result of a data breach Aug. 16, 2021.
According to the data breach class action lawsuit, Accutech failed to implement effective cybersecurity measures and protect consumers from an August 2021 data breach. The breach compromised names, birth dates, Social Security numbers, financial account numbers and other information.Â
Accutech is a distributor of voice, data, AV, wireless and security solutions with over 35 branch locations in the United States.
Accutech hasn’t admitted any wrongdoing but agreed to pay an undisclosed sum to resolve the data breach class action lawsuit.
Under the terms of the settlement, class members who suffered from out-of-pocket expenses due to the data breach can recover compensation.Â
The settlement allows for up to $325 for bank fees, communication charges, travel costs, document fees, credit expenses and up to three hours of lost time at a rate of $20 per hour.Â
The settlement also allows for up to $5,000 for extraordinary unreimbursed, documented monetary losses resulting from fraud or identity theft.Â
All class members can receive two years of free identity protection services through TransUnion’s myTrueIdentity.Â
The deadline for exclusion and objection is April 25, 2023.

To receive settlement benefits, class members must submit a valid claim form by July 24, 2023.
