Gucci America Inc. has reportedly agreed to settle a class action lawsuit claiming that individuals who interned with Gucci and related companies were entitled to minimum wage for the time they spent as interns.
If you worked as an unpaid intern for Gucci or an affiliated entity, you may be entitled to compensation from the Gucci unpaid internship class action settlement.
On Nov. 8, 2014, plaintiff Lindsey Huggins filed the Gucci internship class action lawsuit accusing Gucci and related companies Yves Saint Laurent America Inc., Stella McCartney America Inc. and Bottega Veneta Inc. of violating the Fair Labor Standards Act and New York State Labor Law.
According to the Gucci class action lawsuit, individuals who performed internships with these companies were entitled to receive statutory minimum wage for the time they spent as interns. Huggins claims interns should be entitled to recover unpaid wages and interest.
The parties engaged in a mediation session on May 27, 2015 which subsequently resulted in the parties agreeing to an unpaid internship class action settlement.
The defendants deny the allegations but agreed to settle the Gucci internship class action lawsuit to avoid the burden and expense of continued litigation. Under the terms of the proposed Gucci class action settlement, the defendants have agreed to offer compensation to eligible Class Members who submit timely and valid Claim Forms.
If you would like to opt out of the Gucci class action settlement, you must do so no later than July 27, 2017.
