$625K Westinghouse Air Brake Technologies data breach class action settlement

A $625,000 class action settlement resolves allegations related to a Westinghouse Air Brake Technologies Corporation cybersecurity incident. 

The settlement benefits those whose personal information was potentially compromised in a cyberattack affecting Westinghouse Air Brake Technologies Corp. d/b/a Wabtec Corp.

The class action lawsuit alleges Wabtec failed to properly secure and safeguard employees’ protected personally identifiable information.

Westinghouse Air Brake Technologies Corp. is a transportation and logistics company. The company denies any liability or wrongdoing but agreed to the settlement amount.

A portion of the settlement will be used to pay administrative expenses, attorney’s fees and expenses. The remaining amount will be divided equally among class members.

The balance of the settlement fund after paying administrative expenses, attorneys’ fees and costs and awards to the settlement class representatives will be distributed equally to settlement class members. Each class member will receive at least $15.

If any amount remains in the settlement fund following the initial payments, the settlement administrator may make a second round of payments to all settlement class members who redeemed or cashed their initial payments. 

The exclusion and objection deadline for the Westinghouse Air Brake Technologies settlement is Nov. 25, 2024.

The final approval hearing is currently scheduled for Jan. 21, 2025.

Impacted individuals do not have to submit a claim form to receive a portion of the Westinghouse Air Brake Technologies settlement.
