Consumers who made credit card purchases at a California Buckle store between 2011 and 2013 can claim a $30.00 Credit Certificate from a class action settlement over claims the clothing store violated California law. The deadline to file a claim is Dec. 17, 2013.
The Credit Certificates are part of a class action settlement resolving allegations that The Buckle Inc. violated the Song-Beverly Credit Card Act, which prohibits retailers from requesting and recording personal identification information (address, ZIP code, phone number and/or e-mail address) at the point of sale in conjunction with certain credit card transactions.
Buckle denies that it did anything wrong but has agreed to the class action settlement to resolve the litigation.
Class Members of the Buckle settlement include anyone who used a non-Buckle credit card to purchase goods from a Buckle retail store in California between the dates of Jan. 13, 2011, and Oct. 3, 2013, and who had their personal identification information requested and recorded by a Buckle store employee in conjunction with the credit card transaction.
Class Members who submit a valid Claim Form by Dec. 17, 2013, will receive a Credit Certificate with an estimated retail value of $30.00. The amount of the Buckle Credit Certificates may be increased or decreased depending on the number of valid claims that are filed. Claim filing instructions are below.
