Consumers can receive payments from a $5.085 million U-Haul settlement if their information was compromised in 2022 or 2023 data breaches.

The settlement benefits California residents whose personal information was compromised or potentially compromised in a U-Haul data breach in September 2022 or December 2023.

According to the U-Haul data breach class action lawsuit, the moving and storage company failed to protect consumer information from two data breaches in 2022 and 2023. These cyberattacks allegedly compromised consumer names and driver’s license numbers.

U-Haul is a national moving and storage company.

U-Haul hasn’t admitted any wrongdoing. The company has agreed to pay $5.085 million to resolve the U-Haul data breach class action lawsuit.

Under the terms of the U-Haul settlement, class members can receive a pro rata monetary payment. These payments are estimated to be around $100 per claimant. However, actual payment amounts may be higher or lower depending on the number of valid claims filed.

The deadline for exclusion and objection is Sept. 16, 2024.

The final approval hearing for the settlement is scheduled for Oct. 23, 2024.

Class members must submit a valid claim form by Oct. 15, 2024, to receive UHaul settlement benefits.
