I purchased plumbing fixtures from Home Depot they are BRASS CRAFT. Today I had to turn the water off in the master bathroom and the fixture knob came off in my hand. PROCEEDED to attempt to turn off the hot water on it ALSO failed (came off in my hand as well). Home
Depot is selling inferior products. Now we just got a quote from plumber to replace the valves.. it’s going to cost us $700. To replace all the values in the bathroom. That includes the toilet too. The patent number is 482,633. Over the years HOME DEPOT has more likely than not received several complaints about the cheep low quality product. I’m going to do a search to
see if there is action taken for recuperation. This is unacceptable.

TCA when will claims be paid
No exact word on when claims will be paid. The good news is the settlement received final approval, and no appeals were filed. Hopefully, we’ll see some claims getting paid in early 2017. Please let us know when you receive your check!
Yes it is very unreasonable. I almost broke my finger trying to take a pic of the water heater, that is all the way back in a crawl space. Finding a receipt was a joke, only found 1.
I think they want you so frustrated that you settle for the $5000. Hell it took that to just fix the kitchen defective areas. I gave up. I could pull out dishwashers, water heaters, old plumbing etc…
Good luck…but try and take a few picks, get something for your troubles.
This claim process appears very unreasonable, To take pictures of plumbing fixtures in very tight, inaccessible places behind toilets and under sinks, to include the manufacturer date codes? I called the settlement administrator to discuss this and received no real help other than good luck! Who is willing to disassemble working plumbing hardware under pressure in order to determine up close its serial # or date code? And who keeps the failed hardware? Either a plumber or DIY’er will need to fix the plumbing leak or nonworking valve as soon as it fails. Who is going to leave it unfixed for years, or keep the broken parts after they are replaced? This claim process suggests an approach to discourage claims because there must be the threat of a huge payout.
So it was approve on 10\3\3016
Yes I did file a claim. With tons of proof. But hope it don’t. Turn out like midwest windows and door. Thanks again
Any updates or what does it means by the effective date thanks
The effective date is 30 days after the settlement receives final approval. If there are no appeals filed, then the settlement is considered effective. The good news is, the settlement has been granted final approval from the court, and there have not been any appeals filed. Hopefully this means that the settlement approval will soon be reviewing and processing claims filed before the effective date! If you’ve filed a claim, please let us know when you receive your check!
Thanks
Any updates
The final hearing was continued to 9/7/16. It doesn’t look like the judge has issued final approval yet. As of 9/19 – 9/20, notices and supplemental declarations were still being filed with the court. Hopefully the court will grant the settlement final approval sooner than later!
