$2M Daily Wire class action settlement

Daily Wire agreed to pay $2 million to resolve claims it violated the federal Video Privacy Protection Act (VPPA) by sharing user information with Facebook.

The settlement benefits Daily Wire account holders and newsletter subscribers who accessed a video on a Daily Wire website between March 11, 2022, and Nov. 7, 2023, while a pixel was operational.

Daily Wire is a conservative news and opinion website that offers both free and paid subscriptions. The website also has a video component that allows users to watch news and commentary.

According to a class action lawsuit, Daily Wire violated the VPPA by sharing user information with Facebook. Plaintiffs in the case say Daily Wire shared their information with Facebook without their consent, thus violating the VPPA.

The VPPA prohibits video service providers from sharing information that could be used to identify a person as having requested or obtained specific video materials or services.

Daily Wire has not admitted any wrongdoing but agreed to a $2 million settlement to resolve the VPPA class action lawsuit.

Under the terms of the Daily Wire settlement, class members can receive a cash payment of up to $15. Exact payments will vary depending on the number of claims filed with the settlement. If a large number of claims are filed, payments may be reduced pro rata.

The deadline for exclusion and objection is Sept. 1, 2025.

The final approval hearing for the Daily Wire settlement is scheduled for Oct. 22, 2025.

To receive a settlement payment, class members must submit a valid claim form by Sept. 8, 2025.

Who’s Eligible

The settlement benefits Daily Wire users who were logged-in account holders or digital newsletter subscribers to a Daily Wire website and who accessed a video through a Daily Wire website while a pixel was operational between March 11, 2022, and Nov. 7, 2023.
