Bosch agreed to a $2 million settlement to resolve a class action lawsuit claiming certain Bosch microwave/oven combinations are equipped with defective control panels.
The Bosch settlement benefits consumers who purchased or received as a gift a Bosch microwave-oven combination with one of the following model numbers: HBL5751UC, HBL8751UC, HBLP751UC, HMC80151UC, HMC80251UC or HMC87151UC.
Bosch microwave/oven combinations are equipped with defective vacuum fluorescent display (VFD) control panels; according to the class action lawsuit, the design of these control panels can cause the panels to fade, dim, become unreadable or fail altogether.
Bosch is a home appliance brand that sells products such as refrigerators, dishwashers, ovens, microwaves and more.
BSH Home Appliances, Bosch’s parent company, hasn’t admitted any wrongdoing but agreed to a $2 million class action settlement to resolve these allegations.
Under the terms of the Bosch settlement, class members can receive reimbursement for out-of-pocket costs related to display failure and an extended service plan benefit of three years from the date of purchase. The settlement provides two tiers of benefits based on whether class members experienced a past or future display failure.
Class members who experienced a display failure before March 7, 2024, can receive reimbursement of up to $400 for documented out-of-pocket costs related to display failure. These class members can also receive an extended service plan benefit of three years, during which Bosch will replace any VFD control panel that experiences a future display failure.
Class members who experience a display failure after March 7, 2024, can receive an extended service plan benefit of three years. These class members will not receive reimbursement.
The deadline for exclusion and objection was April 25, 2024.
The final approval hearing for the Bosch microwave settlement was scheduled for June 13, 2024.
In order to receive settlement payments, class members must submit a valid claim form by Sept. 3, 2024. To receive extended service plan benefits, class members must submit a valid claim form by Feb. 12, 2025.
